Weighing In: The Mattis Departure and the Left’s War on Border Security

Was Mattis’ resignation totally honorable or intentionally damaging to President Trump? Obviously, General Mattis determined that his position was untenable and he could no longer support the President. What Mattis and others firstly must consider is that they are not POTUS.

General Mattis’ distinguished military career spanning 44 years is all about the Chain of Command. He’s a general for goodness sakes and has served in some of the highest positions within the military, including leadership positions in: U.S. Central Command, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Supreme Allied Commander, and of course Secretary of State.

It’s impossible to think that every one of his recommendations have been agreed with while Secretary of State. We know that he disagreed with President Trump on the collaboration of Russia and China during the North Korean crisis of 2017, and we know that he strongly believes in a World Order led by the United States. Overall, Secretary of State Mattis has given his life to service, meaning you put self-interests behind and the Commander in front.

It was not that long ago when the Mainstream Media and National Defense questioned why President Obama’s forced retirement of General Mattis, who is regarded as a qualified flag officer, was done with little discussion by President Obama. President Trump as Commander-In-Chief deserves a team that is beyond politics, especially when it comes to the military. This is not to suggest that they are to blindly check in their brains for the sake of getting along with POTUS. What a disservice to We The People and the President.

Obviously, General Mattis determined that his position was untenable and he could no longer support the President. What Mattis and others firstly must consider is that they are not POTUS.

His career is all about the Chain of Command. He’s a general for goodness sakes. It’s impossible to think that every one of his recommendations have been agreed with. Overall, you become part of a command that benefits from all its officers, especially flag generals.

It was not that long ago when the Main Stream Media and National Defense (especially, off the record, questioned President Obama’s forced retirement of what some regarded as qualified flag officers.) Our Commander-In-Chief deserves a team that is committed to our national defense mission and objectives. Like in any command, there must be differences but when it’s time to deploy there has to be agreement and commitment to the mission.

Presidential historians cite historic cabinet differences. This is not new. One in particular involved Abraham Lincoln who turned to a vote from his cabinet. It was recorded that the cabinet was unanimous against the President. The President surprisingly announced the decision making it was clear that his vote counted more than eleven differing cabinet members.

Talk about chaos? Imagine, the country is on the brink of a Civil War and unfortunately, it took this war, and 620 thousand dead Americans to realize, it’s not about Democrats or Republicans, it’s more about what our Declaration of Independence and US Constitution enumerates, the United States of America.

Bottom line, I am disappointed to hear of General Mattis’ decision and how it is serving the narrative for the Deep State, and beltway bureaucrats. If they are really concerned about our national security which was greatly at risk under the previous administration, than Mattis et all, would support the team effort. The loss of his perspective though hurtful for now, will eventually show the depth of this administration and the talent that is willing to serve.

And of course, you have to appreciate what the Trump team has to endure because of the Main Stream Media and Deep State doing everything they can do at every turn to put a stick in the spokes of this presidency. Like you, I am not sure what it will take to unite our country, but meanwhile, without it, you can look forward to more chaos, and anger rising to hatred. What a waste.

Now to the Wall, Slatted Fence or … whatever?

The Wall, slatted fence, whatever you are comfortable calling it, if nothing else, stands as a punctuation and indication to all that the USA is now serious about dealing with what our politicians have turned into an unnecessary complex issue primarily because we continue to break the law and incentivize lawbreakers.

Where are the ideas and solutions? Do you even know what President Trump has proposed? The pundits and Trump haters want you to believe he’s only about the wall. He understands the wall is only part of the solution, modern surveillance technology for border security, more Border Patrol Officers, ICE Officers and cooperation, border surveillance, Sanctuary state and cities and policies that incredulously reward the lawbreakers.

This is what leadership looks like. It courageously leads the way to solving problems, getting us out of chaos (a favorite word of the beltway these days). Walking away from the Rule of Law is a quick route to chaos. This chaos has been going on for decades because Democrats and establishment Republicans are clearly not serious about fixing the problem.

We The People are no longer being duped. We see it all clear enough and here’s the directive from We The People who you serve. Quit wasting our money, time and resources. Don’t think, we’re not keeping an eye on you. Work together and get this done. This will be a process and there’ll be plenty of room for “Political Credit.” If not now, then, when?
