Shutdown Showdown: Dishonest Dick Durbin’s ‘Objections’ To Trump Proposal Exposed As A Lie

Bad-faith Pelosi has not budged an inch on border funding negotiations, and Trump’s offers are shot down literally before he can announce them.

So committed is Pelosi to reopening government for those 800k suffering workers, she can hardly wait to skip town every chance she gets — to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and even tried to spend a week abroad.

What she is NOT willing to do is negotiate in good faith.

It’s easy to be a ‘master legislator’ when you’re used to squishy Republicans that cave to the Democrats’ every Progressive whim. If she thinks holding the House means not having to negotiate legislation that needs to be approved by House, Senate AND the President, she’s in for a rude surprise. And it won’t be long before the Public sees her tactics for more of the same sad #Resist bullsh-t we’ve been seeing for the last two years from both her and Chucky Schumer.

Trump announced that he would be making an offer on Saturday. It wasn’t one that his Republican base liked much, because it put a DACA extension on the table and the timeline took it beyond the 2020 election where (obviously) there is still a lot of uncertainty.

But even before Trump could present the terms of his proposed compromise to the electorate, there was Little Dick Durban shutting it down in a press release.

He ‘cannot support’ the offer presented, he said. They will not negotiate border security until AFTER the government is reopened, he said.

There’s just one problem with that.

Durbin, the Democrat whip — personally — cosponsored a bill very much like this one.

The president’s plan included a three-year extension of legal protections for DACA recipients and those in Temporary Protected Status (TPS) — concessions that mirror those proposed in December 2016 in the bipartisan Bridge Act.

The Bridge Act was drafted to protect Dreamers after then President-elect Trump promised to tear up the Obama-era executive order that put DACA on the books in the first place.

Republican South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, who co-sponsored the bill in 2016 and has said several times that Trump should consider offering DACA protections in exchange for the security measures he wants, told Politico why he supported the bill.

“In my view, the [executive action] issued by President Obama was unconstitutional and President-elect Trump would be right to repeal it,” he said. “However, I do not believe we should pull the rug out and push these young men and women — who came out of the shadows and registered with the federal government — back into the darkness.”

Two years ago, it was a deal worth co-signing.

But now — because they think they have some political leverage, suddenly he ‘Cannot Support It’.

He literally just said he cannot stand behind his own legislation.

But we’re supposed to pretend they’re negotiating ‘in good faith’ right?

Do they have a ‘great deal’ on some real estate in the Florida Everglades, too?

The road to hell, they say, is ‘paved with good intentions’. But what about the road to the White House in 2020? Could it be paved with stupid stonewalling by Pelosi & Co? We think so.

Hey Nancy! Hope you like those ‘4 more years’.
