Five Reasons To Kick The Green New Deal To The Curb

The Green New Deal. An environmental, leftist agenda being put forth by the Socialist It-Girl Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. It is a plan to do away with fossil fuels and replace them with renewable sources of energy by 2030. Otherwise, the World will come to an end due to climate change.

Those who believe in the concept of man-made climate change have been predicting worldwide catastrophe for years, and then the year in which they predict an environmental apocalypse will take place arrives and nothing happens. You might be able to put them in the same boat with people like Harold Camping (who kept predicting the date of the apocalypse, only to be proven wrong on every occasion — the last attempts at such predictions being back in 2011).

If anything is a disaster, it would the Green New Deal itself. First of all, there is no way Americans will be able to stop using oil, gas, coal, nuclear power, and hydroelectric power and replace them with renewable energy sources within eleven years. It would take a lot longer for such a transition to occur.

Second, the renewable sources of energy and other so-called green energy sources have proven to be less efficient and more expensive than what Americans currently use. And one particular green energy source, wind power, is under fire from some environmentalists who claim the windmills are responsible for the deaths of many birds and bats.

Third, the Green New Deal would totally wreck the economy given its high costs and the massive unemployment it would cause. For instance, one of its goals is to make air travel obsolete and rely on high-speed rail. Question: how long would it take to build high-speed railways across the United States (or across North America for that matter)? And how will such railways enable Americans to travel abroad (e.g. would there be one to take people across the Panama Canal or the Bering Strait)? I guess everyone will have a boat if they want to visit other places in the World. Meanwhile, military personnel and other government personnel will probably be allowed to rely on air transport.

Fourth, climate change is not man-made. The climate fluctuates, mostly because of solar activity. Hence, the Earth goes through warming and cooling periods. In fact, the Earth is actually going through a cooling period as of late.

Fifth, the Green New Deal would result in increased government control over the daily lives of Americans. And even such a plan passed through the House of Representatives, there is no way the Senate would pass it, nor would The Donald sign it into law. And whether or not the Green New Deal is Constitutional would also be a matter of debate.

In conclusion, the Green New Deal would be the biggest disaster since Obamacare and needs to be scrapped. America is better off relying on nuclear power, hydroelectric power, oil, gas, and coal.
