Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: Her Policies Revisited

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a.k.a. AOC. The Socialist It Girl and the Democratic Congresswoman from New York’s 14 th District. She has been in office for over a month, but she acts like she is running the House of Representatives. I guess she thinks she is in charge since her party controls the House, even though she has no seniority whatsoever. There are reports that she has even threatened Democrats who vote with Republicans to support their challengers in the 2020 primaries, reports that she has denied. Such behavior is similar to that of some entry-level employees at various workplaces who decide, despite not having any authority, that they are going to be in charge. Hence, they just come in and take over.

Of course, AOC is still pushing her Green New Deal, even though most Democrats are not in favor of it.

I discussed the New Green Deal in a previous article, and I will now discuss two aspects of it that she has put emphasis on recently- having children and flatulence from cattle.

Like some environmentalists, AOC believes having children is the worst thing anyone could do to the planet. Apparently she is a fan of Thomas Robert Malthus, who incorrectly predicted in the 1700s that human population growth would exceed the food supply and worldwide famine would be the result, although it is clear that she is more concerned about man-made global warming
than a possible lack of resources.

Which brings me to the issue of cattle flatulence, which AOC also believes is a cause of global warming. Never mind the fact that cattle have been around since the beginning of time, nor is there any evidence that humans or cattle have an impact on climate change.

Since AOC is obsessed with cattle flatulence, what does she want to do? Kill all the beef cattle in the United States? That would put all the ranchers and many other people (e.g. farmers and those in the meat-packing industry) out of work throughout America. And I’m sure such an extreme tactic would also have an impact on other countries.

Although animal-rights groups are not crazy about the beef & veal industries (e.g. claiming animal cruelty is commonplace, not to mention the slaughter of cattle), I doubt they would approve of a massive slaughter of all beef cattle in the United States just to save the planet from climate change. Thus, there would be another green civil war, just like the one that has emerged over animal-rights groups claiming wind turbines are responsible for the deaths of many birds and bats.

And what about dairy cattle? Does AOC want every one of them in America killed off as well? Needless to say, that would not set well with animal-rights groups, not to mention it would also put dairy farmers and many other people out of work.

So I doubt a majority of Americans favor doing away with beef and dairy products, as well as other products from cattle (e.g. leather).

And let me conclude with the following commercial slogans:

Beef, it’s what’s for dinner.

Milk, it does a body good.
