The Dems wouldn’t DARE lay a glove on her, and Omar knows it. It’s making her BOLD.
By the Democrats’ own intersectional rules, Ilhan Omar is untouchable. As both a woman and a Muslim, she’s near the ‘tippy top’ of the Victimhood Hierarchy. Throw ‘Somali refugee’ into the mix, and she could practically set fire to the Library of Congress and leave her party scrambling for reasons to justify it.
Now their politics have backfired. As that old story goes, the scorpion has stung the frog. It’s in Omar’s nature.
Maybe they thought she’d be bound by party loyalty. Maybe they thought she’d only attack acceptable targets like Trump, his supporters, and Israel. They had to elect her to find out what’s in her. They misjudged her, terribly.
Politico’s Tim Alberta wrote a piece that is lighting up Washington right now. It’s worth a read in its own right.
In trying to wriggle out of the consequences of her words, she is playing the same card that worked so well with cowing Pelosi. She’s claiming to be misunderstood and misquoted. In other words, she’s going on offense.
Too bad for Omar that Tim Alberta recorded the conversation. In its entirety, making Omar and her whining look like amateur hour.
We’ll come back to that, but first, what did she SAY in the interview?
She put Trump and Obama in the same box and strafed them both.
In a fairly lengthy piece, Tim Alberta set it up this way:
What I learned is that, despite the cautionary tale offered by years of vicious Republican infighting, Democrats are dangerously close to entering into their own fratricidal conflict. On matters of both style and substance, the fractures within this freshman class are indicative of the broader divisions in a party long overdue for an ideological reckoning.
And Omar isn’t shying away from it. “I am certainly not looking to be comfortable, and I don’t want everyone necessarily to feel comfortable around me,” she told me, a mischievous smile tugging at her lips. “I think really the most exciting things happen when people are extremely uncomfortable.”

The article went into some differences between her firebrand politics style challenging Democratic Party leadership the way the Tea Party challenged the RINOs and her more concilitiary, consensus-building fellow party freshman Dean Phillips, who, ironically, is Jewish.
…By the time she ran for office in 2016, knocking off a 22-term incumbent to win a seat in the Minnesota statehouse, Omar was fed up—not so much with Trumpism, or with politics in general, as with the Democratic Party.
…As she saw it, the party ostensibly committed to progressive values had become complicit in perpetuating the status quo. Omar says the “hope and change” offered by Barack Obama was a mirage. Recalling the “caging of kids” at the U.S.-Mexico border and the “droning of countries around the world” on Obama’s watch, she argues that the Democratic president operated within the same fundamentally broken framework as his Republican successor.
“We can’t be only upset with Trump. … His policies are bad, but many of the people who came before him also had really bad policies. They just were more polished than he was,” Omar says. “And that’s not what we should be looking for anymore. We don’t want anybody to get away with murder because they are polished. We want to recognize the actual policies that are behind the pretty face and the smile.” [Emphasis added]
She committed the unpardonable sin — she criticized Obama!
What did she do when this story went out? She attacked the Journalist. (Where are Jim Acosta and Brian Stelter defending journalism against the abuses of elected officials when we need them? Oh that’s right… they don’t hit anyone with a (D) after their name. That’s why we call them the Media(D) or the PartisanPress.)
After the news outlet quoted from the interview, Omar tweeted that the result was ‘[e]xhibit A of how reporters distort words. I’m an Obama fan!’
‘I was saying how Trump is different from Obama, and why we should focus on policy not politics. This is why I always tape my interviews,’ she added, along with a winking, tongue-out emoji and nearly two minutes of audio.

Tim wasn’t having any of it. He was ready for her cheap backstabbing tactic.

Of course she would take that Clintonian Attack the Accuser approach. Even Nancy Pelosi wrote off a thrity-seven-year-old woman as being merely misunderstood, and blamed it on her having a ‘different experience in the use of words’.
(Really? This from the party who are convinced that every tweet from Trump is some sooper-sekret dog whistle to the infernal powers of Hell itself?)
Not everying is buying the crap they’re slinging. And don’t blame Islamophobia, either.

She was born in a city — Mogidishu — where they cheered during the movie Black Hawk Down.
Typically, refugees feel some sense of gratitude in a country that offers them shelter and safety when the land they come from implodes.
Has anything we’ve seen from her so far shown us a similar respect for the America that welcomed her? Or do statements like these suggest otherwise?
Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar once described acts of terrorism as a reaction to “our involvement in other people’s affairs,” in the wake of the brutal al-Shabab attack on a Kenyan shopping mall in 2013.
Omar made the comments during an obscure local television appearance just weeks after four armed al-Shabab jihadists stormed the Westgate mall in Nairobi in 2013, killing nearly 70 people and wounding 200.

…unless she sees something she likes in Obama’s idea of ‘fundamentally transforming’ America, kind of like her buddy Alexandria does.
You can see it in her eyes, she’s got big plans for America. Big, psychotic plans.
Plans for putting a stake through the heart of industry, in the name of Democratic Socialism. Plans for dismantling ICE and letting illegals stream over our borders. Plans for outlawing cars, and our burgers. Because otherwise, the world will end in 12 years. And you’d better do it, or else, because she’ll tell ya “I’m The Boss!”
She’s not exactly ‘shelf stable’, but she IS an elected representative. She’s Alexandria Occasio-Cortez: The American Psycho!
