Trump BLASTS John McCain – Do You Agree With His Assessment Of John?

Trump was PO’d after the court transcripts painting McCain as a Trojan horse for the dossier were released. Did he go too far?

McCain’s widow and daughter think so. But the mutual contempt between McCain and Trump is nothing new.

At least as far back as 1999, in a Dan Rather interview, Trump was trading shots with McCain about whether or not he was really a hero. So nobody can chalk this up to being simply Trump’s politics. On a personal level, he held McCain in contempt.

And there are at least a few reasons that — whatever his history in Vietnam may have been — in his political life after coming home, he has shown himself entirely deserving of that contempt.

The President touches on a couple of them here. Watch:

McCain’s family was fuming at Trump after he tweeted the following:

On Monday, Meghan McCain slammed Trump for having a ‘pathetic life’ for spending his weekend tweeting criticism of her father.

‘He spends his weekend obsessing over great men, because he knows it, and I know it, and all of you know it, he will never be a great man,’ McCain said on ABC’s ‘The View.’

‘My father was his kryptonite in life. He was his kryptonite in death,’ she added.

McCain, who is a co-host of the ABC program, said when she saw the president’s tweets she thought that ‘your life is spent on your weekends not with your family, not with your friends, but obsessing, obsessing over great men you could never live up to.’

‘That tells you everything you need to know about his pathetic life right now,’ she added. ‘I genuinely feel bad for his family. I can’t imagine having a father that does this on the weekends.’

The article went on to explain that McCain wasn’t actually ‘last’ in his class. He was really ‘fifth from the bottom’.

Do these guys not even know when they’re being played by Trump? The supposed fact-checking of his bluster is actually validating his point. Oh, only fifth from the bottom? Sorry. My bad. Obviously, the man was a fricking genius.

Back to the main point of contention — Trump v. McCain.

Yes, yes. We know. He’s your family and you’ll defend him, and don’t speak ill of the dead, and all that. But let’s not run off to write any hagiographies in his honor. John was not without his own — very glaring — flaws.

It was John’s own staff that first floated the idea of weaponizing the IRS against the Tea Party and Patriot groups.

That is NOT a particularly ‘heroic’ thing to do… not is it even constitutional.

As Trump rightly said, it was McCain’s vote that kept Obamacare alive.

McCain was the ‘useful idiot’ with an inexplicable (R) after his name whose party affiliation was used to make the Steel Dossier seem like a credible concern and not a partisan hit. (It was indisputably partisan.)

That’s without even getting into his insistence to remain in office until his final day, getting all the pomp and circumstance of a State Funeral even though he was unable to perform any of the required duties of a Senator; or how gracious it was that Trump — despite McCain using the occasion of his own funeral to snub Trump (and his own running mate Sarah Palin!) — that the White House supplied Air Force Two to carry his mortal remains.

Is it wrong of him to speak ill of the dead this way?

Or was McCain’s role in the Steele Dossier / Mueller Inquiry so egregious that he DESERVES to have his name remembered in infamy?
