When Bernie Sanders went on Fox for the town hall program, he tried to sidestep an awkward question by deflecting to Trump. That was a bad idea.
Bernie faced a few questions around the tax returns that ‘outed’ him as the very ‘evil 1%’ he has made a career demonizing.
The taxes he paid were a lot lower than what he thinks people in his tax bracket ought to pay.
Listen to him ‘hem and haw’ when he gets called out on his hypocrisy.
She notices that he could have given the 52% that he says rich fatcats like himself ought to give… and asks why he didn’t voluntarily pay that much.
Notice his first reaction was to attack the questioner — “why don’t YOU…”?

From there he went into a canned fallback shtick about the Trump’s taxes.
What a tired old retread argument.
But wait– there’s something in that answer that commenters have been missing all along.
Bernie, the Socialist, did NOT give extra money to the government even though he is (a) one of the rich One-Percenters he spends so much time and energy deriding. (b) cashing a cheque given to him by the government (c) claiming that paying extra taxes to the government is a moral good. (d) claiming Trump is a tax cheat.
Are you sure you want to go there, Bernie?
Trump makes, before tax, $400k per year for his role as President.
Guess what Trump has done with that money?
He’s given it away.
Bernie is generous with OTHER peoples’ money. Trump is generous with his own. How typical of a socialist.
In 2017 he gave his pay to:
National Park Service —
Department Of Education —
Department Of Health and Human Services
Department Of Transportation
In 2018 he gave his pay to:
Department Of Veteran’s Affairs
Small Business Adminstration
National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism
And this year he gave it to…

So, the Free Market capital guy who is fighting for fewer taxes and lower governmental burden has given MORE than he had to… and is effectively working for free.
Meanwhile the Socialist is making bank on his book sales and still pinching his pennies so tightly he could make Abe Lincoln cry.
Nothing and nobody stops him from giving more than the minimal obligted amount to the government.
Sorry, Bernie.
America’s not lining up to accept the chains of government servitude.
Not yet, anyway. And the guy we’ve got in office has shown himself to be one hell of a fighter for that particular cause.
