Bella Thorne spoke about her new book, overcoming dyslexia, bullying, and sexual abuse, and that she’s now pansexual.

The 21-year-old former Disney star was interviewed by Juju Chan of ABC News. Thorne spoke about being bullied for dyslexia, how she suffered from sexual abuse that began when she was just 6 years old and lasted until adolescence, and about the pressure on young women to be viewed in a sexualized way. She also spoke about recently choosing to publish her own nude photos after a hacker attempted to blackmail her.
When Chan marveled about how Thorne so casually drops “big” things like coming out as bisexual on social media in 2016, the star corrects her and explains that she didn’t know that she wasn’t actually bisexual but pansexual.
I’m actually a pansexual, and I didn’t know that,’ she said while explaining it means ‘You like what you like.’
Pansexuality is the attraction (sexual, romantic or emotional) towards people regardless of their sex or gender identity.
Thorne said that she had the concept of pansexuality explained to her and that’s how she identifies now.
Bella continued, ‘Doesn’t have to be a girl, or a guy, or … you know, a he, a she, a this, or that. It’s literally, you like personality, like you just like a being,’
She added ‘it doesn’t really matter what’s going on, over there. If I just like it, I like it!’
Thorne isn’t the first celebrity to embrace the pansexual label. It seems it’s what the cool kids in Hollywood are doing these days.
Bella joins numerous celebrities who identify as pansexual or refuse to label their orientation altogether, including Miley Cyrus, Janelle Monae, Sia, Amber Heard and Kesha.

Conservative columnist for The Federalist, Chad Felix Greene, has a pretty interesting take on this pronouncement from Thorne. Greene is a gay man and self-identifies as transgender — but he doesn’t exactly fit into the typical LGBTQ+ mold. He calls it as he sees it and his worldview is decidedly conservative.
This, btw, completely erases the entire history of gay rights which was based entirely on the argument that sexuality was inborn and unchangeable.

Thorne’s book is called Life of a Wannabe Mogul: Mental disarray and if that isn’t a cry for help, I don’t know what is. Juju Chan describes the girl in the book as one that is “in a lot of pain” and Thorne agrees.
As a woman and a mother, it’s heartbreaking to see that a beautiful young lady like Thorne, who has overcome so much and achieved incredible success in a variety of fields, can still be so broken.
Why does it always seem to be the young celebrities that choose to rebel in a sexualized way?
If this is the price of fame, no parent should want it for their child.
As for Bella Thorne, some may snicker behind their hands at her new self-identification, but, I won’t. It looks like Thorne is seeking peace in her life and looking in all the wrong places.
I actually hope that she comes to know the saving grace of Christ, who is the Prince of Peace.
