Honor. It’s a big word with lots of weight. We dust it off once in a while for special occasions. Like Memorial Day.
So what did San Pablo teach us about this word honor?
Romans 12:10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. (ESV)
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor (NASB)
What’s that look like?
Be the guy who brightens a room when he enters it, not when he leaves it. Don’t be a kiss-ass who only cares about people who can get him something… care about the people who can’t, too.
ESPECIALLY them.
It’s basic ‘great commandment’ stuff.
As simple and central as it is to our faith, you’d think we’d ‘get it’… we don’t.
Our egos get in our own way all the time.
