If Elijah Cummings leads the OVERSIGHT committee, maybe he could look into what’s gone wrong in his own (literally) rat-infested district.
The crime rate leads the nation – in a bad way. Literacy rates are appalling. Entire neighborhoods are shuttered. Every single block one journalist visited had at least one home without a roof on it. Even their own mayor said while touring it that she could ‘smell the rats’ and the ‘dead animals’.
Enormous sums of money are being dumped into the district to solve the problem. And it’s run by Democrats… who claim to be champions of that particular cause.
But is it true? ARE they the crusading problem-solvers of the poor they claim to be? Or do they just set up government departments that suck taxpayer money and funnel it God-knows-where? Waste? Corruption? Embezzlement? Some of each?
Who’s overseeing the overseers? Three of the previous four mayors (all Democrats) left office under a cloud of scandal. The last one was personally profiting on a sketchy children’s book sale scheme on the taxpayer dime.
Trump, who watched Elijah Cummings’s Oversight committee issue some blisteringly obscene personal attacks on the former head of ICE, Homan wasn’t about to sit back and let that abuse go unanswered. That led to the tweets putting Baltimore and it’s Orkin-confirmed rat problem (among other social ills) squarely in the national spotlight.
Baltimore’s numbers are the worst in the United States on Crime and the Economy. Billions of dollars have been pumped in over the years, but to no avail. The money was stolen or wasted. Ask Elijah Cummings where it went. He should investigate himself with his Oversight Committee!

But it’s not a ‘Baltimore’ problem exclusively. You might say it’s a DEMOCRAT problem.

Does that mean he thinks Baltimore is a lost cause? Of course not. He wants to make it Great Again. But it sure would need some new management to make it happen.
Because the current crop of them aren’t worth spit. The heaps of money that have been shoveled at them isn’t making any difference.

An aide to President Trump said that the Baltimore region has squandered billions of dollars in federal grants given by the administration.
‘President Trump has given $16billion in 2018 alone to Elijah Cummings’ district in federal grants,’ Lynne Patton, a regional administrator with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, told Fox News on Monday.
‘We have given more money in homeless funds to Baltimore than the last administration’ as well as ‘community development grants,’ according to Patton.
She then took Cummings and the city leadership, including Mayor Bernard Young, to task, asking: ‘What are you actually doing with the money so that it benefits residents in the community for once instead of deep-pocket, crooked politicians?’

Cummings may not be the right person to look into where the money is going. Who knows whether the breadcrumbs could lead to his own doorstep. The guy who is demanding Trump’s tax returns needs to pony up his own:
A watchdog group is asking the Maryland attorney general to investigate whether Rep. Elijah Cummings and his wife used a charity for improper self-enrichment, according to a copy of the complaint obtained by the Washington Examiner.
The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust, which leans conservative, filed the complaint on Monday against the Center for Global Policy Solutions, a nonprofit organization founded by Cummings’ wife, Maya Rockeymoore.
The complaint asked Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh to investigate the financial relationship between the Center for Global Policy Solutions and Rockeymoore’s for-profit consulting firm, Global Policy Solutions LLC.
…Rockeymoore’s nonprofit group received over $6.2 million in grants between 2013 and 2016 from special interest groups and corporations. Several of the nonprofit group’s financial backers, which included Google, J.P. Morgan, and Prudential, have business interests before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Cummings has served as Democratic chairman of the committee since January and previously served as ranking member.
