Presidential Hopeful, Beto O’Rourke Crosses The Rio Grande To Campaign In Mexico — No, This Is Not Satire

“They’re not appealing to the illegal vote!” they said. “That’s just made up GOP talking points!” they said.

It looks like somebody made a run for the border and it wasn’t because he had a hankering for Taco Bell…

Beto was pandering but to a very curious demographic — illegal aliens.

To be fair, he needs to pander. His campaign is sinking faster than Rosie O’Donnell’s spoon in a tub of Rocky Road. After Obama’s HUD Secretary, Julián Castro, lambasted O’Rourke for not wanting to decriminalize illegal border crossing, the Great Irish Hope™ has lost some of the progressive luster that he was once lauded for. Beto, for his part, is actually correct in his reasoning for not wanting to decriminalize illegal border crossing as he has argued in the past that doing so could result in drug smugglers and human traffickers being protected.

As the 2020 Democrat hopefuls continue to push the party left, especially on “open borders,” the base seems to be responding. It ain’t looking so great for Beto.

A new HuffPost/YouGov Poll released Monday has given some weight to that narrative, illustrating the extent to which Castro attracted Democratic voters to his side after his debate performance while O’Rourke largely turned them away.

In the opt-in online poll of 1,000 Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters who watched at least some of last week’s Miami debates, a sizable 44% said their opinion of Castro improved, while only 7% said their opinion worsened.

O’Rourke fared much worse in the poll, with only 15% of respondents saying their opinion of the former congressman from El Paso improved and 33% saying it got worse.

Seeing how the Media(D) and the Left are framing the issue of illegal immigration, Beto decided to show his Progressive street cred. He crossed over the Rio Grande into El Paso’s “sister city”, Ciudad Juares, and addressed some “asylum seekers” at the “Casa del Migrante,” [Why does everything sound so festive in Spanish?] a shelter run by the Catholic Church for people that have illegally entered Mexico from Central America and are attempting to seek asylum in the United States.

In his first international trip as a White House hopeful, the former congressman traveled to Ciudad Juarez, across the Rio Grande from his native El Paso, Texas, to meet what his campaign described as “individuals and families directly impacted by Donald Trump’s cruel and inhumane policies.”

A fluent Spanish speaker, O’Rourke met around a table at a shelter with immigrants from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala, some of whom wept as they told of being denied entry into the U.S. while their asylum claims are processed. Many said they were terrified they’d be sent back to their home countries, where their lives had been threatened because of abusive spouses, street gang violence or drug smugglers.

“We hope, by sharing these stories, that the conscience of our country is awoken right now, and the need to change the policies that we have in place” becomes apparent, O’Rourke said via a livestream on his Facebook page.

The O’Rourke campaign, believing this newfound humanitarian crisis at the border — that the Media(D) and Democratic leadership had denounced as “manufactured” just 6 months ago —  thought that Beto chatting with illegal immigrants was a thing that should be livestreamed on Facebook.

Just because Beto isn’t for decriminalization of illegal border crossing, that doesn’t mean that his position isn’t pretty far left. He wants illegal immigrants who file an asylum claim to be able to do so in the United States. A large proportion of these asylum claims are bogus and the DHS chief recently stated that 90 percent don’t attend their hearings and then disappear. But Mr. Compassion, Beto, wants to give them a “pathway” to citizenship.

He blames those being forced to wait on “the Trump administration’s unlawful ‘Remain in Mexico’ program,” which has allowed the United States to return thousands of Central Americans to Mexican border cities as they wait to hear about their asylum claims. It is meant to reduce the attractiveness of U.S. asylum requests that in the past had allowed claimants to remain in the U.S. for years as their cases wound their way through the courts.

Praising his hometown as part of the world’s largest “binational” community with Juarez is a centerpiece of O’Rourke’s presidential campaign, and he released a sweeping immigration plan in May calling for providing millions of people in the country illegally with a “pathway” to U.S. citizenship, while deploying thousands of lawyers to the border to help process asylum cases and earmarking $5 billion to improve living conditions in Central America.

Watch:

He told Face The Nation why he planned to go:

His Twitter account tweeted out how badly the United States was treating the people that disregard our immigration laws and force the people that are attempting to come to the United States legally to be shunted to the back of the line because of the finite human resources. But whatever…

If meeting with illegal border crossers wasn’t enough for the bleeding heart crowd, he held a rally outside of a Clint, Texas U.S. border control facility that has been in the news recently for the overcrowded and “shocking” conditions for illegal immigrant children. Of course, AOC et al. have decided to not fund border control facilities and want to abolish ICE. (That rarely gets mentioned amidst her elaborate outrage, though.)

And of course, Beto’s campaign made sure that they were able to fundraise before the FEC second-quarter fundraising deadline on Sunday.

Democrats don’t seem to get that the constant pandering to illegal immigrants is insulting to the legal immigrants that are spending thousands of dollars and waiting years to do obey the laws and become Americans the correct way.

Legitimizing illegal border crossing only emboldens more people to make a dangerous and deadly journey like that man and his young daughter. It also emboldens human smugglers to make money on the desperate that are handing over the little money that they have to “coyotes” and to use children as a free ticket into the United States.  It puts more women and girls at risk of rape. It emboldens human traffickers and drug smugglers.

These are not good people. Here’s what those allegedly horrible border patrol agents deal with on a regular basis:

And now, the 2020 Democrats are offering illegal border crossers free healthcare. Free healthcare and a pathway to citizenship and all you have to do is turn yourself over to CPB? Someone should’ve told my family members that spent thousands of dollars and waited more than a decade for citizenship.

But, remember, kiddies, it’s the Democrats that are the compassionate ones.

Keep it up, Democrats. This stuff might be popular with your base, but it isn’t so popular with patriots that are paying attention.
