If you ride, or if you watch Western movies, you probably know about burrs under saddles… they irritate the horse no end and when it gets cranky, you’d better hang on! What follows are some “burrs” and they are aggravating me mightily.
First, a statement that needs to be said: Journalism in the so-called mainstream media is dead. The schools of Journalism are turning out more left-wing Socialists than are needed…WAY more. Truth and facts are things to be either forgotten when being reported, or if they are reported, the “talking head” will slant it so that the content is anti-Trump, no matter what the subject actually is! Watching any mainstream “news” outlet you’ll quickly notice that only the “stringers”, that is the folks that are out in the field and seldom seen, are actually reporting the news instead of making it. Once a story gets into the studio, it seems to take on a life of its own and strays far afield from the original content and meaning. If you’re of a certain age(that means OLD, folks) you might remember the Minister of Propaganda for the Hitler regime… one Joseph Goebbels. His theory that if you tell a big enough lie, often enough, enough people will come to believe it, and then it may turn into the law of the land. It did in the 1930s in Germany. There are enough useful idiots in America now that stand ready to prove his theory all over again.
There are several members of Congress, Democrats all, that seem to have been elected with no memory whatsoever of the oath that they took, or the Constitution’s words. Maxine Waters, who doesn’t live in the district she represents, has openly called for physical harm to the President and all members of his cabinet. The text of that oath is: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.” Nowhere in that oath does it say you can rail and rant and incite other people to do physical harm to members of the President’s cabinet.
Frederica Wilson, who represents the 24th Congressional District in Florida, and who’s famous for her cowboy hats, is another one that is guilty of either ignorance, or ignoring the oath she took. Recently she stated that anyone that badmouthed a member of Congress should be prosecuted, and I suppose she meant to the fullest extent of the law. Perhaps she’s never heard of the First Amendment, that’s the one that is all about free speech. So, with the blessings of that Amendment may I say that Ms Wilson is a drama queen, a useful idiot, and has no idea, apparently, of the rights of the citizens, and the restrictions on the government. Someone once said that it was better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it and prove that you were. Ms Wilson has proven that several times now.
Incidentally, does she wear her hat when the House is in Session? The House apparently caved in for Ms Omar which was, and continues to be, a slap in the face of every patriotic American.
AOC, and I think you know who that is, continues to make statements, almost on a daily basis, that show her to be a clone of Maxine Waters in that she spews out things that are SO ridiculous that she should be a possible candidate for a brain scan…just to see if there’s ANYTHING in there. No, I’m not a doctor, but like everyone else, I have an opinion. AOC is just another mixed-up lefty loony who has no real knowledge of government. Her recent trip to the Southern border was worthy of an Oscar nomination, her acting was THAT good. She feigned distress at a fence, behind which was NOTHING, and refused to answer direct questions, as most of them do, as to where the funding would come from for her grand, but stupid, scheme.
If the people of NYC are smart, they will dump her and put someone in there, hopefully, a Republican, that will be able to represent them in a proper manner without making a fool out of themselves.
Parting shot: Last, but not least… another burr. The Congress of the United States needs an enema, and for the very reason that you think. There should be no such thing as “a career politician” because it was never meant to be that. Anyone that has served more than 2 terms should be voted out and forced to find honest work…and that would automatically PRECLUDE lobbying for at least 10 years. This business of ambushing members of Congress in order to get something done has to stop, and I mean NOW. If the people in the House and Senate aren’t smart enough to know what’s right and good, they don’t belong in a position of power. Now and then I throw in a Latin quote: Non Sibi Sed Patriae… “not self, but country.” We all need to hear that every single day.
