BOOM: Judicial Watch Challenging Sanctuary City Policies In Court

With so many elected representatives going rogue, Judicial Watch steps up again!

This is what a REAL commitment to the Constitution and the rule of law looks like.

When, the lawmakers themselves mostly only pay lip service to the rule of law, somebody’s gotta speak up. Enter Tom Fitton.

Not only is he the only one who has ever gotten Hillary Clinton under oath on any of her email testimony (that’s a little weird, eh?), and not only has he gotten a ruling forcing California to purge more than a million inactive voters from their roles, but now they’re taking on the Sanctuary City policy.

Nonprofit government watchdog Judicial Watch stated it has filed a lawsuit in California Superior Court seeking a permanent injunction to bar Santa Clara County officials from enforcing a sanctuary policy that protects illegal aliens accused of heinous crimes.

Filed Aug. 28 on behalf of Santa Clara County taxpayer Howard Myers, the suit requests an injunction against Sheriff Laurie Smith and Rick Sung, acting chief of corrections.

The injunction would prevent Smith and Sung “from expending taxpayer funds and taxpayer-financed resources on a recently enacted policy that requires federal immigration officials to obtain a judicial warrant before an alien in Santa Clara County’s custody may be transferred to federal immigration officials’ custody for removal from the United States.”

The suit was prompted by the refusal of county officials to cooperate with efforts by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to take into custody Carlos Arevalo-Carranza, 24, an illegal alien accused in the brutal Feb. 28 murder of county resident Bambi Larson.

Larson, 59, died from multiple “deep wounds consistent with a cutting tool,” according to court documents.

Officials are now literally defying existing laws to put the interests of illegal aliens ahead of the interests of actual citizens.

And we KNOW why this is, don’t we? Because they told us.

It’s not about principle, it’s all about politics and power.

The Center for American Progress (CAP) Action Fund memo, which circulated Monday, called on Democrats to “refuse to offer any votes for Republican spending bills that do not offer a fix for Dreamers and instead appropriate funds to deport them.”

The memo from the left-leaning think tank also said that protecting DACA is not only a “moral imperative” but also a “critical component” in winning elections.

“The fight to protect Dreamers is not only a moral imperative, it is also a critical component of the Democratic Party’s future electoral success,” the memo read.

It finished, “If Democrats don’t try to do everything in their power to defend Dreamers, that will jeopardize Democrats’ electoral chances in 2018 and beyond.”

Tom Jawetz, Vice President of Immigration Policy at the Center for American Progress Action Fund, told Fox News that the purpose of the “political strategy memo” was “to advise Democratic elected officials that through their actions they need to show the base that they stand for the base.”
