Guess Why Occasional Cortex Doesn’t Like The Electoral College

Hint: think back to her complaint about growing vegetables. Or pretty much every other issue, for that matter.

If you guessed ‘racism’, you’re RIGHT!

No, Alexandria, the electoral college is not ‘racist’. What’s the matter, were you jealous that two OTHER members of ‘the Squad’ had been hogging all the spotlight for the last week or so?

For someone whose JOB is literally to understand the political process, poor little AOC doesn’t seem to have a very solid grasp of the concepts of her own nation’s Representative Government.

Or, more likely, all those checks and balances are just an awfully inconvenient impediment for unrolling her radical agenda.

She THINKS she understands what she’s opposing and has an argument for why it’s wrong. But she knows very little about her own history, or about why the Framers did NOT set America Up to be a simple democracy.

For one thing, many of the smaller states would never have willingly joined the union, since their regional interests would be entirely neglected in favor of the priorities of states with bigger cities and higher populations.

Their vision of political power was that — as much as possible — it should be close to the people.

Todays’ crop of socialists aches to have the concentration of a whole NATION of political power resting in their grubby little mitts. AOC is no different.

Ocasio-Cortez made her argument on Monday in an Instagram story that includes her driving along a deserted highway and quipping, “many votes here, as you can see.”

“Very efficient way to choose leadership of the country. I mean I can’t think of any other way, can you?” Ocasio-Cortez says, before going on to cite a report from New York Magazine that argues the defenses of the system that determines the winner of presidential elections are flawed.

The freshman lawmaker said the Electoral College is a “scam” that has a “racial injustice breakdown” undermining the votes of people of color.

“Due to severe racial disparities in certain states, the Electoral College effectively weighs white voters over voters of color, as apposed to a ‘one person, one vote’ system where all our votes are counted equally,” she says, before pushing back against the argument that eliminating the Electoral College would give big states too much power.

The emptiness of that land and the contempt she demonstrates for the people who live there IS the precise reason the electoral college matters.

Notice that she never thought such voices were unimportant when she could leverage them for issues SHE gave a damn about — North Dakota’s pipeline protests, for instance.

It’s a sign of our times that the following tweet mocking her required a follow-up disclaimer explaining that it’s actually a JOKE mocking her, rather than a serious, factual quotation:

Just like any joke we might be inclined to make about Occasional-Cortex flunking out of the Electoral College is not ACTUALLY something that really happened.

We’ve all seen the dishonest games the left have played with the power they’re entrusted with, they’re obviously unworthy of that trust.

But what about 2020? Could a moral person pull a lever for Trump with their integrity intact? Would Jesus himself vote for Trump? We’re glad you asked. There’s a brand new book that covers precisely that question:

Would Jesus ever choose someone, with a less than stellar past, to be a leader? Would Jesus be cool with how Trump blasts CNN, The Left, and his feckless ‘compadres’ on The Right? What about Health Care? Would the Great Physician give Trump’s opposition to ObamaCare the ‘two thumbs up?’ Find out in this BEST-SELLER!
