Impeachment Move Will Backfire

On June 25, 1876, Lt. Colonel George Armstrong Custer spotted a Sioux village about fifteen miles away along the Rosebud River. Custer and his men had been dispatched to Montana to move the Sioux and Cheyenne. These tribes missed a deadline for leaving the territory. Seeing only forty warriors, Custer ignored the orders to wait and divided his men into three groups to attack. Major Marcus Reno and Captain Frederick Benteen led two different groups of soldiers. Benteen’s group was stationed around the Little Big Horn River to prevent the Sioux and Cheyenne from escaping. Reno’s group was to push the tribes into battle against Custer’s 210 troops. According to some, Custer’s plan made some sense, but he drastically underestimated the number of Sioux and Cheyenne. Custer was killed and his troops routed in what is known as Custer’s Last Stand.
Arrogance, rushing to act, and seriously underestimating the opposition led to the brutal defeat of the Seventh Cavalry. The Democrats are close to repeating the same mistakes regarding impeachment.
Michael Goodwin, in the New York Post on September 24, 2019 wrote of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), “Surrendering to the radicals and the noisy drumbeat of their media handmaidens, Pelosi established a formal investigative process involving the top legislative committees.” Pelosi claims Trump “seriously violated the Constitution” and “betrayed the oath of office” in a conversation with Ukraine’s president. By announcing a formal impeachment inquiry, Pelosi and the Democrats have arrogantly marched into another Little Big Horn. It’s a mistake and one that could cost them dearly in 2020. Why?
First, the basis for this inquiry is questionable. CNN reported the alleged whistleblower didn’t have direct knowledge of the communications that partly prompted the complaint to the inspector general. President Trump has also fired back calling it “fake news” and noting the real issue regarding Ukraine is Joe Biden. The bottom line here is that the American people aren’t stupid. We know the lies and the corruption that generated the Mueller Report. The Deep State and the Democrats did everything they could to overturn an election result they hated. That’s what this is, too. Schiff, Nadler, Pelosi, and the media are like Captain Ahab in Moby Dick. As Ahab lost everything pursuing the great white whale, the Left will fall chasing impeachment. Once again, they don’t have anything.
Second, the American people are not in favor of impeachment. NPR reports that the polls demonstrate that most Americans don’t want impeachment, adding, “The truth is — impeachment has almost never been popular.” It’s possible the Democrats and their media water-carriers will sail this ship, but it will sink. Not only do regular people oppose it, but President Trump’s approval rating is as high as it has been in two years!
Third, the Democrats and their sycophants in the media are lying. They have done incredible gymnastics to exonerate Joe Biden while attempting to nail the president for the things Biden actually did. Vice President Pence explained on Hannity, “The ironic thing is that everything that our critics in the media are leveling at the president from this phone call, and leveling at our administration, everything that Democrats on Capitol Hill are running off and describing — Vice President Joe Biden bragged about — which was a quid-pro-quo — withholding American aid in exchange for a specific action.” Despite what the media tries to assert, we know that they hate the president and those who voted for him. They will do whatever they think it takes to get rid of him.
The Democrats have begun the impeachment battle. It’s hard to know if they’ll have the votes in the House to send it to the Senate. What are the possible outcomes?
If they get the votes in the House to send it to the Senate, that’s where it will die. President Trump will remain in office. The GOP will be outraged for the vile disrespect shown by the Democrats and the media and will storm the ballot box in 2020. Trump will be re-elected.
If they don’t get the votes in the House, then it will die there. The crazy left-wing base of the Democrats will be outraged and demoralized. The Democrats, as a party, will split and Trump and the GOP will win in 2020.
The advice given in the movie “Wargames” is appropriate regarding impeachment; “The only winning move is not to play.” Will the Dems follow that advice? I don’t think so, either.
