Jackie Robinson once said, “I’m not concerned with your liking or disliking me… All I ask is that you respect me as a human being.” That’s really the key to our culture. We don’t have to like someone, but we are compelled to show respect. However, the Left in our country, since 2016, has failed on that basic premise.
Since Donald Trump was elected in 2016, the Left (the Democrats and their media accomplices) has sought to overturn that election. Desiree Zapata Miller writes on July 9, 2018, “Is this what the Democratic Party has become? A party of haters? Do Democrats condone this behavior? Please tell me it isn’t so! Yet I see few Democrats calling to end the behavior that causes such strife and division.”
What Ms. Miller saw then continues even more today. As I see it, the key to understanding the attempted to coup to get rid of President Trump; the Russian collusion debacle with Comey and his pals; the over-hyped and costly Mueller investigation that revealed nothing of substance; and now the ridiculous impeachment inquiry all grow from the same poisonous tree. The Left does not respect President Trump nor those of us who elected him. This lack of respect leads to hate and that leads to irrational and malicious attacks.
In late September 2019, Hillary Clinton said that Donald Trump is an “illegitimate president” during an appearance on ABC’s “The View.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said last week of President Trump’s fighting back against impeachment, “I think part of it is his own insecurity as an imposter. I think he knows full well that he’s in that office way over his head. And so, he has to diminish everyone else.”
Vox’s Matthew Yglesias pontificates, “Trump displays no contrition but instead accelerates his lying and inappropriate demands. And the only viable solution is for him to stop being president.”
All of these statements are false. They are just garbage. When basic respect is tossed aside, unmitigated hate, lies, and revenge can flow freely. The Left hates President Trump, which leads to smears, lies and unfounded attacks.
This lack of respect is what causes diplomats to believe their opinions ought to trump the president’s with regard to foreign policy. This lack of respect, coupled with the fear of losing power, emboldens the deep state to plot, plan, and scheme to overturn an election and propose “insurance policies” and write on a twitter feed that “the coup has begun.”
The Left hates and disrespects those who support the president just as much as they hate and disrespect him.
They insinuate that Trump supporters lack moral values and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said that many of President Donald Trump’s supporters are too uneducated on racism to understand that they’re actually supporting racist policies. The disrespect continues in the media. Joe Scarborough of MSNBC implores Trump supporters to not be “dumb” or “ignorant.”
Disrespect is what is driving the impeachment inquiry. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) believes he can force the removal of a duly elected president, and thus deny and silence the voices of the millions who voted for President Trump and gave him an electoral college win. Schiff believes he has the moral high ground and those of us who support the president are irredeemable, ignorant deplorables.
Michael Walther, in the Week, wrote, “Schiff obviously enjoyed his role, interrupting, rolling his eyes, exchanging condescending smiles with other Democratic members, pounding his gavel, and, after slandering his Republican colleagues during his closing remarks, turning off their microphones in the midst of an attempted rebuttal.”
The disrespect is evident and rampant. However, the American people see through it. The shenanigans in the capital are not having much of an effect. Trump’s 2020 prospects seem brighter all the time. The Democrats are still struggling to find an identity and a candidate. The election is still a year away, so anything can happen. It is important people remember the disrespect the Left is showing and vote accordingly.
