CHRISTMAS MIRACLE: Autistic Girl Enjoying Christmas Lights Speaks For The Very First Time
Christmas is a good milestone for us to take a ‘reset’, look around, and really appreciate all the good things that tend to get drowned out by the daily bad news. This girl’s story is a great example of that.
One family’s daughter had been non-verbal for her entire life, and her parents had no reason to believe that reality would change any time soon.
That family has a neighbor who liked to go all-out for Christmas with wildly elaborate lights and decorations. The kind of set-up that would do Clark Griswold from ‘Christmas Vacation’ proud.
And the girl in our story would sometimes take a seat in a chair and enjoy the dancing light show.
Imagine the mother’s astonishment when she heard her daughter utter her first words in that context.
Mom’s expectations are realistic and modest. Her daughter is speaking one or two words to begin with.
But now she has real hope that she might work her way up to a sentence at some point, and maybe one day, have a full conversation with her mom.
And hope — real hope — changes EVERYTHING!
And what better message for the middle of December than one of hope?
Merry Christmas to all our readers!
And in what might just be a lesser ‘Christmas Miracle’… this is a good news Florida story that does not involve gators, drugs, or the infamous words ‘Florida Man’.
