China Threatens Australia: Stop Calling For An International Coronavirus Inquiry… Or Else

China’s Communist Party is used to getting their own way. When flattery or bribes won’t work, they aren’t above resorting to threats… this time, on the International Level.

Australia, like so many other countries, has paid a heavy price in reaction to China’s viral gift to the planet — economic upheaval.

They are among the loudest voices calling for a global investigation into what REALLY happened with the viral outbreak. They would also want to know who knew what — and when.

These are NOT the kinds of things a Chinese government super-sensitive to public image wants the world to be thinking about, let alone speaking about openly.

So China is doing what any dime-store thug might be expected to do when cornered. They’re offering a choice between capitulating to China’s will, reversing their calls for this inquiry — or else.

China’s ambassador to Australia, Cheng Jingye, gave a very specific ‘or else’, too. One that could sting them badly… especially since their regional economy is so closely connected to China.

Mr Cheng also refused to confirm that the virus had started in a Wuhan wet market, in a sign Beijing is ramping up its propaganda campaign into the origin of the virus.

He warned the Morrison government that its pursuit of a global review into the COVID-19 pandemic could spark a Chinese consumer boycott of students and tourists visiting Australia, as well as sales of popular agricultural exports like wine and beef.

Senator [Marise] Payne said the Australian government rejected “any suggestion that economic coercion is an appropriate response to a call for such an assessment, when what is needed is global co-operation”.

“Australia has made a principled call for an independent review of the COVID-19 outbreak, an unprecedented global crisis with severe health, economic and social impacts,” she said.

“This would be undertaken at an appropriate time, fully acknowledging that many countries are continuing to deal with the challenges of the virus.

“A transparent and honest assessment of events will be critical as we emerge from the pandemic and learn important lessons to improve our response in the future. — SydneyMorningHerald

This is all the more reason to think it’s time the world stands up as one and tells China that we’ve about had it with their tinpot tyrant tactics.

Have we not realized that they are as dependant on world markets as the World is on their manufacturing?

If they start playing hardball, there are plenty of ways a unified world could make them regret it.

And seeing how aggressive they’ve been getting toward Hong Kong in recent days… maybe it’s time we ALL stopped dancing to China’s tune.

Come to think of it, wasn’t someone running on exactly that platform back in 2016?
