COVID TYRANNY: ‘Burb Sets Up One-Way ‘Social Distancing’ Sidewalks–Fines Those Who Don’t Comply

At what point, exactly, do we say that these restrictions are un-American?

Public officials have done many things to “keep us all safe” during the cornavirus pandemic. Some of these things are understandable like telling people to perhaps forego the handshakes, wash their hands a little more frequently, and disinfect surfaces a little more diligently are some of these things.

Other things seem to be a bit in the extreme category like the guy that was handcuffed in front of his 6-year old daughter for playing tee-ball with her in an empty park or the man being dragged off of a bus for not wearing a mask.

This seems to be firmly in the latter category.

The Boston suburb of Beverly has set up one-way sidewalks so that their 39K residents can properly practice “social distancing” and if you’re walking the wrong way on the one-way sidewalk, you could face a $100 fine.

Massachusetts is under a stay-at-home order, but Beverly Police Chief John LeLacheur said that residents are going outside to get exercise and the crowds on the streets have him concerned. “In monitoring the area, we noticed there was a tremendous amount of foot traffic and people walking into each other,” said Chief LeLacheur.

Posters have been put up and a large, flashing sign has also been set up.

A Boston suburb has set up one-way sidewalks in order to have residents practice social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Police in Beverly, in the north of the city, have mandated that locals who are walking in opposite directions along bustling Lothrop Street must now use separate sidewalks so that they are not brushing up against one another.

Pedestrians must now walk against traffic and failure to comply with the new directive could result in a $100 fine.

It comes as the state of Massachusetts struggles to slow the spread of COVID-19, with at least 16,790 confirmed cases. Beverly is located in Essex County, which has at least 2,100 cases.

So far, most residents have complied without complaint.

Really? WTF, Boston?! First Philly and now Boston. Did our great cities forget their own history?

It’s amazing that all that needed to happen for Americans to roll over and give up their liberty was a respiratory illness where 96% of cases are mild along with a 79% recovery rate for all cases–which, incidentally, includes China’s skewed numbers that are suppressing the total number of cases that they have, and includes a number of countries that are not testing on a large scale.

I have no doubt that the experts will manage to beat this thing with treatment that is currently under development, or in the future, with a vaccine. My concern is that the restoration of our liberties may never recover.
