The Democrats’ Violent America

Over the July 4th weekend this year, at least six children were murdered in what can only be called senseless acts of violence.

Dean Meminger writes in the July 9th edition of Spectrum News of New York,  “Many neighborhoods in New York City have been devastated by a horrifying increase in recent gun violence. As some look to place blame on someone or something, other parts of the nation are dealing with the same deadly problem.”

The stats are truly horrifying.

  • A 10-year-old girl was shot and killed in Chicago.
  • A 20-month-old infant was shot in the chest in Inglewood, CA.
  • Shooting incidents in Philadelphia are up 57% from last year.
  • In Milwaukee, homicides have jumped 95% — to 82 — so far this year, according to police.
  • In the first week of June, the Los Angeles Police Department reported that homicides increased 250% compared to the previous week.

One of the most tragic events occurred just a few days ago. A New York City cookout ended in tragedy, leaving police searching for answers after 1-year-old Davell Gardner was killed in a shooting.

Why is all of this violence breaking out now?

One reason is clear. There is a political war on law enforcement. It is being waged on the left as they seek to demonize police officers.

Susan Gooden, Dean of the L. Douglas Wilder School of Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University, reflects the attitude of many of the left. She says of interviews for the Kerner Commission about police brutality on NPR, “How the police would beat up people for no reason at all. How they were constantly harassed by the police. And one young kid said to them that the police are just thugs with badges.”

The facts don’t bear out that assertion. Acts of police brutality are down, but rather than teach and illuminate that truth, liberals want to push the myth that police are “thugs with badges.”

Clay Travis tweeted what is painfully obvious.

“The murder rate is skyrocketing in cities where protests were the most aggressive and active in the country. Do you know why? Because they defunded the police. Everyone with a functional brain knew this was going to happen. Police save lives.”

That is absolutely true for New York City. Disturbingly, it seems to me NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio (D-NY) is more concerned about his BLM painting in front of Trump Tower than he is about the violence that rocks his city.

Before it was “incorrect” to write it, Vox (no conservative publication) on Feb. 13, 2019, carried an article by Matthew Yglesias which asserted, “Solid data suggests that even if you take a realistic view of the police, spending money to hire more police officers — an idea espoused by both Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama — is a sound approach to the multifaceted problem of criminal justice.”

Do you want to reduce violence?  You do it by…

Hiring more police officers.

Treating police officers with respect.

Not allowing mobs to do whatever they want to do.

Protecting and respecting private property.

Who knew that these basic principles upon which our republic was built would prove to be successful in curbing violence?

The truth is, though, the Democrats do not support law enforcement. They have joined the radical elements of Black Lives Matter and want to see the police defunded.

Joe Biden has asserted that law enforcement officers using military equipment “have become the enemy” and is fine with reallocating funds away from police departments.

As I see it, the Democrats and Biden are okay with the violence if it somehow erodes support from Trump. By now, it ought to be clear that they will try to bring down Trump and those that support him by any means necessary.

The choice is becoming more clear each day. If you are a fan of violently and radically changing the nature, character, and values of the United States, Joe Biden is your guy. If you believe in American values, law, order, and respect, then you have no other option but to re-elect Donald Trump.
