Chuck and Nancy tried to hold the American public hostage while they attached partisan demands to the Relief bill. Trump jumped in to give Americans the relief they need.
Trump signed more than one Executive Order, taking care of some business that became urgent in the light of the Congressional stalemate.
Protections from eviction have been extended, as one big example of urgent business.
But that isn’t the only thing he looked after.
The executive orders establish a payroll tax holiday through the end of the year for Americans earning less than $100,000 a year.
They also defer student loan payments through the end of the year; continue eviction moratoriums; and extend enhanced unemployment benefits that expired last week, but at a reduced level of $400 instead of the prior $600.
“If I’m victorious on November 3rd, I plan to forgive these taxes and make permanent cuts to the payroll tax,” Trump said. “Joe Biden and the Democrats may not want that, they don’t want that.”
The orders, which Trump announced in a press conference at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, come after talks with Democrats over another round of assistance hit an impasse Friday.
There are some questions about whether Trump has stepped beyond his authority in putting these Executive Orders forward. But Trump seems to think it would survive a court challenge.
Also, how does anyone really think this will look if the Democrats take this funding to court?
If they DO take it to court, that brings up Chuck and Nancy’s PAST hypocrisy.
Remember that time when they fought tooth and nail NOT to pass Congressional immigration legislation, but demanded that Trump — with the stroke of a pen — extend protection to the so-called ‘dreamers’.
If they object, it will not be due to their care for the Constitutional divisions of authority. They are partisans. Nothing more.
