Netflix Movie ‘Cuties’ Is About A Group Of 11-Year Old Girls Hoping To ‘Twerk Their Way To Stardom’–No, This Is Not Satire

A French movie that was released at Sundance earlier this year is being called “corporate pedophilia” online.

Netflix announced a September 9 release for the film that is about an 11-year old Senegalese immigrant who joins a “free-spirited dance clique.” The movie is called “Cuties” (“Mignonnes” in French) and it is about 11-year old girls in a twerking dance group.

The movie is about a clash of cultures–set in France, Amy, an 11-year old whose immigrant Senegalese family has “deeply held traditional values” (read: Muslim) as well as “underlying dysfunction” becomes entranced with a rebellious neighbor and her friends who are heavily influenced by social media. The synopsis says that “Amy, through an ignited awareness of her burgeoning femininity, propels the group to enthusiastically embrace an increasingly sensual dance routine, sparking the girls’ hope to twerk their way to stardom at a local dance contest.” You can read the full synopsis here.

The “underlying dysfunction” is apparently preparing for the return of Amy’s father who is returning from Senegal with a new wife which will completely upend their family dynamics. It’s actually pretty stunning that a movie would dare tackle bigamy in Islam and the inevitable clash of cultures that will happen when living in a Western nation and that effect on a pre-teen trying to fit in.

Here’s the trailer:

Some say that Cuties is “misunderstood” and that it’s really about the dangers of social media which is so influential on young girls and tends to push them to mimic what they see by “influencers.”

Screen Daily’s review says that Cuties “…sets the sexual awakening and desperate need for acceptance of an 11 year-old girl against a clash of cultures in the internet age. The sight of twerking pre-teen bodies is explicitly designed to shock mature audiences into a contemplation of today’s destruction of innocence…”

Well, they’re right about the “sight of twerking pre-teen bodies” shocking mature audiences.

Screen Daily adds that it’s a “teen-friendly” flick and that “this is a film for and about kids.”

Uhh…no. It’s a movie for pedophiles. The movie is rated TV-MA–that’s a mature rating and clearly not for kids.

There’s now a Change.org petition calling on Netflix to remove the movie because it “promotes child pornography.”

Kelsi Swift who started the petition wrote, “As we are becoming more aware of the horror of child sex trafficking, and child sexual abuse we need to come together to end ALL forms. One way we can achieve this, is to cancel shows and movies that exploit our children! The movie Cuties shows children dressed provocatively, dancing sexually and is rated only for adult viewers. It was created for the entertainment of adults who are pedophiles. Please sign the petition to protect our children from exploitation in movies.”

Which makes you think…why did someone make this movie?

In an interview, French director, Maïmouna Doucouré, explains what sparked the idea:

I saw, at a neighbourhood party, a group of young girls aged around 11 years old, going up on stage and dancing in a very sensual way while wearing very revealing clothes. I was rather shocked and I wondered if they were aware of the image of sexual availability that they were projecting. In the audience, there were also more traditional mothers, some of them wearing veils: it was a real culture shock. I was stunned and I thought back to my own childhood, because I’ve often asked myself questions about my own femininity, about evolving between two cultures, about my Senegalese culture which comes from my parents and my western culture.

Are the only choices (according to Doucouré) veils or twerking? No room for nuance, is there?

Who would allow their child to audition let alone perform in this absolutely disgusting film?

Conservatives have lost the culture war and our children are paying the price.

Doucouré added that she saw some young girls had massive social media followings–400,00 followers–and when she examined why, it was because they had posted “sexy or at least revealing pictures.” She said, “Today, the sexier and the more objectified a woman is, the more value she has in the eyes of social media. And when you’re 11, you don’t really understand all these mechanisms, but you tend to mimic, to do the same thing as others in order to get a similar result. I think it is urgent that we talk about it, that a debate be had on the subject.”

She’s right. This does happen to young girls–but that doesn’t mean that it’s ok to ever sexualize children. I don’t care how much you intellectualize it–this movie does precisely the same thing that it is trying to “critique” in social media; it hypersexualizes child actresses. Nobody saw a problem with this? Not when there are so many victims that have come forward confirming that the film industry is rampant with sexual abuse of both women and children? No? Everyone thought this was fine and didn’t see a scintilla of hypocrisy?

“Let’s condemn the hypersexualization of tween girls by hypersexualizing tween girls for a movie!”

It’s interesting that this movie is being announced for release on Netflix just as the absolutely vile Cardi B. and Megan Thee Stallion song, WAP, has debuted at Number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

Here is a link to the uncensored lyrics, the official video with some of those hypersexualized dance moves and costumes that young girls are exposed to. Here is the explicit version which can be accurately described as auditory porn.

This is the CLEAN version with lyrics…and it still deserves the Not Safe For Work (NSFW) warning.

The woman that gave the first high-profile to Joe Biden after the announcement of Kamala Harris as his running mate had released that song just days before. She’s also committed to releasing more songs like this because it’s all about “female empowerment.”

Disgusting.

The Democrats knew this and did it anyway. It’s not a great look for a party that is running a guy who has been accused of digitally raping a woman and has a disturbing history of getting “handsy” with women and young girls and making them uncomfortable. It’s also the party of Bill Clinton who is still revered despite his repeated predatory sexual behavior.

I guess Dems would be just fine with Cuties. If Epstein was still around, it would probably be his go-to in-flight movie on the Lolita Express.

The movie was heartily condemned by both the left and the right.

A self-described “radical black feminist” said that it’s telling that it’s a movie about a black, preteen girl twerking.

She’s not wrong.

Conservatives were quick to condemn the film as well.

I’m with Jason on this one.

That it is.

But fortunately, as parents we have options.

Bethany suggests homeschooling as one of those options, and frankly, she is right.

Here’s another fantastic support for parents to help their daughters navigate the rough, shark-infested waters they’re tossed into these days.

Raising Righteous & Rowdy Girls

In ‘Raising Righteous and Rowdy Girls’, Doug Giles reinforces the notion that little women don’t need to be pampered by their fathers to turn out right. And having met his beautiful daughters, I know his philosophy works. As a strong-willed woman who thinks her daddy is the greatest guy in the world, I can tell you this is a must-read for every man who hopes to earn the same title. —-S.E. Cupp Best Selling Author
