Joe Biden claims he is running for president to restore the “soul of America.” I’m not sure the “soul of America” needs restoring, but if what Biden’s party stands for represents their notion of “soul,” then it is full of hatred, corruption, and evil.
Solomon wrote in Proverbs 27:19, “As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.” If that’s so (and I believe it is), then here’s what’s in the heart of Biden’s Democrat party.
The soul Biden’s Democrats want to bring to America can be defined by two cultural issues.
You’ve heard of “Cuties,” right? It is the French movie that Netflix is promoting. “Cuties” was written and directed by Maïmouna Doucouré and purports to be a coming of age story, and a warning about what happens when our girls are left to make their own decisions in a time when they are exposed to adult images, but have no adult guidance.
What isn’t portrayed in liberal circles is the movie’s inappropriate portrayal of young girls. “Cuties” “has received major backlash for ‘hyper-sexualizing’ minors thanks to its incredibly provocative trailer and poster, which show a group of pre-adolescent girls twerking in skimpy outfits.”
This movie has rightfully been derided. Matt Walsh tweeted, “Netflix has a movie called ‘Cuties’ about 11-year olds in a twerking dance group. Some of the reviews claim it’s a “commentary” on the sexualization of children…keep in mind that the lead actress is actually 11 years old. In the film and real life.”
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has slammed the movie and called for the Department of Justice to do an investigation about whether this movie is child pornography.
Perhaps speaking for the left, Peter Bradshaw, in The Guardian, writes, “There has been an ugly and abusive social media storm, dominated by vicious trolls who haven’t seen the film and by mischief-makers jumping at the chance to embarrass those with Netflix connections such as the Obamas.”
Bilge Ebiri wrote for Vulture, “The movie was condemned sight unseen by many online, even as those who’d actually viewed the film insisted that it was in no way exploitative. Since then, perhaps unsurprisingly, the anti-Cuties cause has also been embraced by various trolls and conspiracy nuts.”
Rod Dreher, though, did see the movie and he wrote, “I saw it last night. It’s almost as bad as you think, and Netflix deserves all the grief it’s taking over the thing.” Dreher makes the chilling point, “What the Avengers movies are to comic-book geeks, Cuties is to pedophiles — this, even though there is no sex in the movie. I want to make clear at the outset that I think this is a repulsive film, though the conflict it explores is dramatically worthy.”
The left has collectively rolled its eyes at the controversy surrounding this movie and believe it to be no big deal. It is important to note that along with Sen. Cruz, Sen, Tom Cotton (R-AR), Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), and Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) have spoken out or written against this movie. The only Democrat to do so is Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI).
Why is that? The Biden Democrat party does not consider this to be important. They apparently do not find “Cuties” offensive. I ask you, is this the kind of soul America wants to have?
The other cultural incident that defines the Biden Democrats’ soul is what happened in Los Angeles over the weekend. A gunman brazenly walked up to a parked patrol SUV and shot two Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies multiple times in what officials described as an ambush-style attack.
It’s a reprehensible act that was compounded by the response of onlookers. One man taunted a deputy, shouting: “It’s a celebration! It’s a celebration!”
The atrocious behavior was far from finished, however. “L.A. County Sheriff’s Department in an update overnight confirmed that an unlawful assembly was declared as protesters blocked the entrance and exit to the area hospital emergency room.”
Did you catch that? Not only did onlookers cheer and celebrate that law enforcement officers were shot, but they tried to block the entrance to a hospital so they could not get in to get help. The crowd of protesters were shouting about the law enforcement officers, “We hope you die.”
Biden issued a statement against this. He called these acts “absolutely unconscionable” and said they “bring only greater violence, injustice, and grief to a nation in desperate need of healing.” These words, though, ring hollow.
Rich Lowry, of the New York Post, says it well as he writes, “Presumably, none of the elite members of the vast media, corporate and cultural apparatus that has made, almost instantaneously, BLM part of America’s civil religion supports killing cops or insulting them and their colleagues when they are gunned down. But in their fervent embrace of a poisonous and simplistic narrative about policing in America, they are telling a lie about the cops, one repeated over and over again and without challenge in swaths of American life.”
That’s it exactly. Biden’s Democrats believe that law enforcement is inherently racist and corrupt. When they don’t confront the lies of BLM, they endanger law enforcement officers. I ask you, is this the soul of America?
When Biden asserts he wants to restore America’s soul, ask yourself, is what he and the Democrats support really the soul I want?
