Terrorists kidnapped a civilian US citizen in West Africa a few days ago. Uncle Sam just brought him home again.
We’ll begin this story at the beginning, as the triggering event was first described on October 27th:
Six gunmen on motorbikes with AK-47 assault rifles kidnapped an American man from his home on the edge of a rural village in southern Niger in the early hours of Tuesday, multiple sources said.
The kidnappers seized 27-year-old Philip Walton, who kept camels, sheep and poultry and grew mango trees near the border with Nigeria, at around 0145 local time (0045 GMT), a police source, two local officials and three security sources told Reuters.
His wife, young daughter and his brother were left behind in their home in the village of Massalata, the police source said.
…Walton does not work for the U.S. government or any U.S.-linked organisation, the sources said. –Reuters
For some world leaders — including the last administration here at home — that is where the story might have ended, with authorities wring their hands about what they should do next.

A big win indeed.
An American had been kidnapped by terrorists. We knew where to find him. We did something about it.
The elite SEAL Team 6 staged a daring raid in the West African country of Nigeria, rescuing Philip Walton, 27, who had been taken hostage, officials told Fox News.
“We had to get him before any potential trade or sale,” one U.S. official said.
…The SEALs rescued Walton after killing a number of his captors. SEAL Team 6 was chosen for the operation because they are responsible for West Africa, Fox News has learned.
“U.S. forces conducted a hostage rescue operation during the early hours of 31 October in Northern Nigeria to recover an American citizen held hostage by a group of armed men,” Jonathan Hoffman, chief Pentagon spokesman, said in a statement.
“This American citizen is safe and is now in the care of the U.S. Department of State. No U.S military personnel were injured during the operation.” –FoxNews
The kidnappers are dead.
The SEALS and the man they went to rescued are safe.
