Is Comey really oblivious to the amount of smoking-gun evidence pointing to deliberate malfeasance against the 45th President? Are we’re REALLY supposed to take his snipes seriously?
Comey has ‘thoughts’ on what might be contributing to that ‘lack of trust in our institutions’. How precious.
If only the trust in our institutions could be protected by some sort of an ‘insurance policy’… oh, wait. That was part of the PROBLEM, wasn’t it?
Let’s see what talking points he hits on here…
Ouch. I bet he doesn’t even realize that if you tweaked his words ever so slightly, we could rewrite them to be a FAR more accurate to his PERSONAL situation.
The original text:
A large part of the drop in trust of our institutions and our civil society has been the product of relentless lying by a demogogue president. It’s a depressing thing to admit but lying works when it comes to the top office in the land and is echoed in media and by other enablers in and outside of government. People believe what the head of a government says in a democracy and that’s normally a healthy thing. It’s deeply unhealthy when the head of a government is a sociopath to be honest and that shapes, unfortunately, millions of people in a harmful way. So our challenge as a country is to help people out of that fog of lies. You can’t do that by yelling at them. You have to find a way for them to emerge from that fog. And I think, today we began that journey.
A more honest reading of it:
A large part of thedrop in trust of our institutions and our civil society ash been the product of relentless lying and demogoguing about the president. It’s a depressing thing to admit, but lying works when it comes to top officials in the land and is echoed in a media and by other enablers in and outside of government. People believe what the head of a government agency says in a democracy, and that’s normally a healthy thing. It’s deeply unhealthy when the head of an angency is a sociopath to be honest, and that shapes, unfortunately, millions of people in a harmful way. So our challenge as a country is to help people out of that fog of lies. You can’t do that by yelling at them, you have to find a way for them to emerge from that fog. This is the same James Comey that said that the GOP needed to be ‘burned down’.
Good thing that isn’t considered ‘incendiary language’ eh Jim? You might get accused of inciting violence. (Oh wait, in the politicized FBI YOU left behind, that only happens if there is an ‘R’ after your name.)
Paul, on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” called Comey a “notorious liar” and questioned why the GOP should take advice from someone who “used the enormous power of government to go after his political opponent Donald Trump.” He also declared Comey “should be in prison.”
“When we start taking advice from Comey, a notorious liar, a guy who ruined the FBI, a guy who used the enormous power of government to go after his political opponent Donald Trump, I think when we start taking his advice, we are taking the wrong advice,” Paul advised. “And so, I don’t plan on listening to anything from Comey. In fact, I think Comey should be in prison for the things that he did.” — Breitbart
Indeed. The guy who replaced Hoover as the shadiest leader of the FBI might want to think twice about offering the rest of us ‘tips on a better democracy’.
Now that Trump is a private citizen, he has all sorts of options open to them that a President does NOT have.
Trump is no stranger to the courts, and a successful court settlement against Comey, personally, together with claims for damages to reputation would go a LONG way to clearing that fog.
In fact, Trump could go full Nick Sandmann on some of these people who have been making bank by sniping at him with deliberate lies. The Media team who produced Joe’s Day One ‘very fine people’ campaign ad by claiming those words proved Trump was a ‘bigot’ might be a good starting point.
