Nikki Haley is learning the hard way that in politics, some sales are final.

There is a lot many of us on the right liked about Nikki Haley, especially how she took a torch to the UN, but many who were familiar with her body of work cautioned that she wasn’t really ‘America First’ and had more in common with the Bush-era Neocons than the MAGA principles.

Her public statements sharply critical of the 45th President lend weight to those criticisms.

“I think he’s going to find himself further and further isolated,” Haley said of the defeated president. “I think his business is suffering at this point. I think he’s lost any sort of political viability he was going to have. I think he’s lost his social media, which meant the world to him. I mean, I think he’s lost the things that really could have kept him moving.”

And: “I don’t think he’s going to be in the picture,” she said, matter-of-factly. “I don’t think he can. He’s fallen so far.” —Politico

She did not anticipate the hot displeasure of a big part of the 75 Million Republicans who had recently voted for someone she was so quick to throw under the bus as a forgotten political shipwreck.

For someone whose name has been bandied around as a possible 2024 contender, who would want the support of those same 75 Million voters at some point in the future, that’s a pretty serious miscalculation. She tried the damage control route, publishing an ‘explainer’ op-ed in the Wall Street Journal entiled “The Media Tries To Divide Republicans” in which she wrote:

People feel strongly about Mr. Trump, but we can acknowledge reality. People on the left, if they’re honest, can find Trump accomplishments they like—a coronavirus vaccine in record time, Middle East peace, more accountability from China. People on the right can find fault with Trump actions, including on Jan. 6. Right or left, when people make these distinctions, they’re not trying to have it both ways. They’re using their brains.

Just as important, they’re proving people are more than their party affiliations. If we can’t make judgments beyond whether someone is Republican or Democrat, then America can’t face its biggest challenges. We separate into two camps that always hate each other. We become estranged from family and friends over politics.

Was that a correcting the record kind of an op-ed? Or was it an ‘oh $#^!, I’ve done #@&$ed up’ kind of an op-ed? Coincidences in DC are few and far between.

A clue to the answer for that question might be found in this piece of reporting:

SCOOP: NIKKI HALEY reached out to former President DONALD TRUMP on Wednesday to request a sit-down at Mar-a-Lago, but a source familiar tells Playbook that he turned her down. The two haven’t spoken since the insurrection on Jan. 6, when Haley blasted Trump for inciting his supporters to storm the Capitol.

The snub comes on the heels of Tim Alberta’s deep dive in POLITICO Magazine last week on Haley’s presidential ambitions and how she’s trying to have it both ways with Trump. —Politico

It’s too late for any of that glad-handing, Nikki. Your public criticisms of Trump were grist for the mill of a ‘bipartisan’ denunciation of Presidet Trump for ‘inciting an insurrection’; an event that was neither an insurrection, nor ‘incited’ by him.

Nikki has certainly shown some badass qualities we have apprecitated… especially in the context of BBQing UN.

Here are some even better examples of badass women.

Biblical Badasses: The Women

In Doug Giles’ latest book, Biblical Badasses: The Women, Giles spotlights ten epic ladies who did awesome things for God with the odds severely stacked against them. These girls weren’t your typical church ladies. They were holy movers and shakers who upset hell with their God-honoring, faith-filled, lives. Giles’ unique take on these terrific women makes the scripture come alive. This book is real, raw, relevant, and irreverent. Giles’ prayer is that after reading, Biblical Badasses: The Women, not only will your noggin be filled with these amazing tales of high and lows from real women who rocked in a hard place, via the power of God, but that you will get off your butt, quit pursuing stupidity, start chasing down your high calling and at the end of your life, you too, like the holy femme fatales featured herein, will have left a massive scar on Satan’s haggard backside.
