Arrested Pastor Holds Church Services Again… Leftist Politicians Want It Shut Down For Good

Pastor James Coates, Jailed for Preaching In The Pandemic, Has Been Freed!

The reason Pastor James Coates was refused bail in the first place was pretty simple. He would not accept bail conditions that infringed on his ability to preach the gospel and meet with other believers in worship.

Now that he has been released with ‘time served’ instead of paying the fine, should it have really surprised anyone where you could find him on a Sunday morning? (If you need a clue, just read the book of Acts.)

GraceLife Church was bustling Sunday morning as pastor James Coates returned to the pulpit after being jailed in February for flouting COVID-19 public health measures.

The church, just a few minutes west of Edmonton in Parkland County, has continued to hold packed Sunday services despite RCMP and Alberta Health Services inspectors appearing each week to ensure public health measures aimed at stemming the spread of COVID-19 are followed. RCMP officials have repeatedly stated those measures were not followed while they were on scene. The parking lot was filling quickly around 10 a.m. Sunday, prior to the 10:45 a.m. sermon from Coates. –EdmontonJournal

Squad cars were on site for the service but did not appear to have taken any legal action as yet.

An elected official from the political left — the opposition party leader and Alberta’s analog to a ‘former Governor’ — had a predictably draconian response:

So many other congregations across the province has made sacrifices and adapted their services to comply with public health orders.
