If today’s tepid, milquetoast Christians knew what Jesus was really like, how many would still follow him today?
How many would scatter rather than wear the public scorn of being associated with such a politically-incorrect flipper of tables and upsetter of status-quos?
Jesus had an annoying habit of showing kindness to the people that good people were supposed to be indifferent toward while saving his harshest words for smug, self-satisfied big-shots whose power and position made everyone else tremble.
Jesus didn’t fear them. He was a different kind of cat. He had an inner strength that didn’t come from wealth, or his position in society, or all the usual things that earned you a seat at the table.
What he had was far more real.
And he was hated for it. You know what?
Plenty of people today would have reacted the same way they did.
They just can’t handle the truth.
