First, it was ‘Dr. Jill’ who was supposed to dig Joe out of the hole he had dug for himself. Now it’s Kamala. Who’s really running the show here?
As if it wasn’t already sketchy enough that Kamala has been fielding solo calls with foreign leaders, breaking with security precedent in traveling with Joe to public events, like this showing at the CDC where he did … whatever the hell this is… (time stamp 1:17)
Now Old Joe is calling in reinforcements at the border. No, it’s not more border enforcement personnel he’s calling for. That might be useful.
Barely 2 months into the job, and with media blackouts not doing much to save his bacon, Biden is calling on Kamala to help clean up a mess that sprang up as the direct consequence of Joe’s feckless policies.
Funny… only a moment ago it was NOT a crisis. Now this non-crisis needs the personal oversight and intervention of his running mate.
It’s the first clear assignment for Harris since taking her job alongside President Biden, one that fits her expertise but also puts her in the center of a brewing political storm.
Biden announced Harris’ role coordinating diplomacy and border control efforts with Central America and Mexico in a meeting with his immigration officials at the White House. He pointed to Harris’ experience as California’s attorney general working on human rights and combating organized crime, saying there was “nobody who is better qualified” for the job.
…“I have asked her, the VP today, because she is the most qualified person to do it, to lead our efforts with Mexico and the Northern Triangle and the countries that are going to need help in stemming the movement of so many folks, stemming the migration to our southern border,” Biden said.
…Biden said Harris would have other roles and that the new one wouldn’t be her full responsibility, but he deputized her to speak for him on the issue.
“She is leading the effort because I think the best thing to do is to put someone who, when he or she speaks, they don’t have to wonder about, ‘Is that where the president is?’” Biden said. “When she speaks, she speaks for me, doesn’t have to check with me, she knows what she’s doing, and I hope we can move this along.” — SFChronicle
Call us ‘cynical’ but we have a strong suspicion that this won’t be the last time we hear the words ‘when she speaks, she speaks for me’.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got an article about Woodrow Wilson’s wife I’ve been meaning to read. Couldn’t for the life of me imagine what made me remember that.
