The country that gave us the Magna Carta and the template for many of the rights we now take for granted seems to have forgotten its own history.

Londoners today have become so ‘woke’ that John Wesley, Charles Spurgeon, and William Boothe would scarely recognize London as being on the same planet as the London of their day, let alone built of the same stones.

The hostility to the gospel might not surprise them, but seeing a man arrested for declaring that marriage was to be exclusively between a man and a woman?

That would be new, even for them. And yet, here we are, with a 71yo man being roughed u by the local constabulary for exactly that.

A Christian street pastor was arrested last month for causing “alarm and distress” in London for preaching about the biblical definition of marriage being between one man and one woman from Genesis 1.

Pastor John Sherwood, the 71-year-old minister of the Penn Free Methodist Church in north London, was reportedly approached by police officers in the northwest London town of Uxbridge on April 23 while preaching on the final verses of Genesis 1. He allegedly stated that God designed families to have a mother and a father and not two parents of the same gender. — CP

Pastor Peter Simpson, the preacher he often preaches the gospel publicly with explained what happened.

Sherwood was told he must not say anything offensive to the LGBT lobby. Before you ask, there IS no law granting a right to not be offended. When Simpson asked if that logic should likewise apply to the offense that Pride Parades give to traditional Christians, that logic didn’t get any traction.

Police officers urged Sherwood to come down from a step ladder he was preaching from as he “respectfully” informed police he has freedom of speech and people have the freedom to ignore him and continue walking if they disagree with his statements, Simpson wrote.

Sherwood resumed preaching and spoke of the “precious right to freedom of speech,” which is traced back to the Magna Carta in 1215 and the Bill of Rights in 1689. Onlookers again accused him of making homophobic statements and hate speech.

Sherwood initially refused the arrest and argued he was engaged in lawful activity and had not committed a crime, Simpson said. — CP

Sherwood went on to describe the events around the arrest in detail in a blog. Here are some key portions:

Meanwhile Pastor Sherwood respectfully told the police that he had freedom of speech and had no intention of desisting from preaching because of the complaints. People are free to walk past and ignore him, if they do not like what he is saying. He explained to the officers that his previous comments about families needing a father and mother were made in the context of the divine command to ‘be fruitful and multiply’ (Genesis 1:28). It is a statement of the obvious that two men or two women cannot reproduce.

Pastor Sherwood then resumed preaching and spoke on the precious right to freedom of speech in this country reaching back to Magna Carta in 1215 and the Bill of Rights in 1689. One man amongst the onlookers, who said that he was bisexual, shouted out that Pastor Sherwood had made homophobic statements, and a woman in the gathering crowd, who said she was a lesbian, said that he was guilty of hate speech. The police took a statement from her.

The conversation then resumed between Pastor Sherwood and two officers, and they asked him to come down from the steps on which he stood, saying that he was now under arrest. The minister refused, arguing that he was engaged in lawful activity and that no crime had been committed.

An officer then took away the Bible in the pastor’s hand and pulled him from the steps. Three officers quickly gathered round to apply handcuffs behind the minister’s back. This dignified man of God, who is in his early 70s, was marched off to a nearby police car, as one of the helpers from my church cried out, ‘What has happened to us as a nation that a man can no longer preach from the Bible?’ —ConservativeWoman

If Masculinity Is ‘Toxic’, Call Jesus Radioactive

Much of the Left loathes masculinity and they love to paint Jesus as a non-offensive bearded woman who endorses their agenda. This book blows that nonsense all to hell. From the stonking laptop of bestselling author, Doug Giles, comes a new book that focuses on Jesus’ overt masculine traits like no other books have heretofore. It’s informative, bold, hilarious, and scary. Giles has concluded, after many years of scouring the scripture that, If Masculinity Is ‘Toxic’, Call Jesus Radioactive.
