Incest In The Great Lakes Region

This story is several years old, but I feel I should tell it anyway.

In January 2015, an unnamed teenage girl in the Great Lakes Region presumably New York (unless she is from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, or Minnesota) did an interview with New York Magazine announcing her plans to marry her father.

How did this incestuous union come to be?

This girl was conceived when her parents were attending their high school prom. They broke up some time later, and the girl had minimal contact with her father during her childhood. Meanwhile, her mother married several times and had two other children.

At age 17, she had re-connected with her father. He was living with his girlfriend, 30 miles away, so she went to visit him for a week. Since she was anxious about sleeping in a different place (which even caused her to have nightmares) she asked her dad to sleep on the couch while she slept on the floor in order to have him be close by. He soon starting on the floor next to her. The result was them cuddling and spooning.

In the meantime, they had become attracted to each other. They discussed such feelings after play wrestling with each other. Then they kissed, made out, and she lost her virginity to him.

Gross.

When it came time for her high school prom, her dad was her date. Shortly afterward, he moved out of his girlfriend’s house (the reason for doing so are not known) and moved in with his ex-girlfriend of eight years, and his daughter went with him. The girl continued to have sexual relations with her father, and the ex-girlfriend did not seem to mind.

It is unclear why the girl’s father decided to move in with his ex-girlfriend, and if the girlfriend he had been living with when his daughter came to visit was aware of their incestuous behavior.

The girl and her father had made plans to move to New Jersey, where there are no laws against incest.

If James Gandolfini was still alive and the Sopranos was still airing, this would have been an interesting storyline, i.e. the Soprano family decides to meet the new neighbors, the truth about them is revealed, and Tony is rattling on about it to his psychiatrist.

It is unclear if the girl and her father had gone through with their plans to marry and have children, yet alone inform their friends and relatives, who are likely to freak out about their relationship.

The question remains: how old was this girl when the incestuous relationship began?  Because if she was under 18, then not only is it incest but also pedophilia.

And what kind of life did her father have after high school, especially since it seems he was living at a girlfriend’s house?
