As Cubans take to the streets and protest the Communist dictatorship that they’ve lived under for over 60 years, the so-called “social justice” warriors in America aren’t showing much support for their cries for freedom.
Frankly, it looks like many American leftists would rather that the protesters in Cuba just shut up.
Cuban Americans seem to possess a real passion for liberty and it isn’t easily stamped out.
We have seen pro-Cuban freedom activists take to the streets in support of Cubans demanding liberty ever since the protests in Cuba began.
Last Friday, one of those “street murals” was painted in front of the Cuban embassy in Washington, D.C. which read, “Cuba Libre” — “Free Cuba.”
According to the Washinton Free Beacon, the mural “was painted by the embassy as part of a demonstration against Cuba’s government and its violent treatment of political protesters.”

By Saturday, it was gone.
The Bowser administration defended the decision to crackdown on the anti-Castro activists. “The ‘Cuba Libre’ painting on the street was unauthorized, so DPW crews power washed to remove it,” Erica Cunningham, the public information officer for D.C. Public Works, told the Free Beacon.
The Cuban Embassy is located on the same street where the Department of Public Works painted “Black Lives Matter” in large yellow letters at Bowser’s behest in June 2020. The section of road is now designated as “Black Lives Matter Plaza” and maintained by the city. At the time, Bowser said the plaza, near historic St. John’s Church, which was nearly burned down by rioters last summer, was supposed to honor those who took to the streets following the death of George Floyd. Bowser has yet to acknowledge the pro-freedom Cuban protesters who, Gonzalez says, have had enough of communist rule.
“If you were listening to everyone on the street in Cuba, they were chanting, ‘Freedom and down with communism; freedom and no more communism!'” Gonzalez said. “They don’t have any fear anymore. They don’t care because they have nothing more to lose. The Castro regime has taken everything from them.”

Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser had made a trip to Cuba in 2016 and praised the Communist regime.
“Given Cuba’s emphasis on a strong education, I know there’s a lot we can learn from each other. The District will continue to draw on best practices from around the globe as we close the achievement gap and prepare the next generation for the jobs of tomorrow,” she said when visiting the University of Havana.
She also praised their healthcare system, “No matter your background or economic status, everyone has the right to quality health care—and it’s encouraging to see that Cuba has made that a top priority,” she said after a meeting with the daughter of Raúl Castro.
That healthcare system that she praised so highly isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. News outlets are blaming the spike in coronavirus cases as the thing that sparked the protests despite the protesters themselves saying that it’s about ending the communist dictatorship and shouting “Freedom!”
It’s interesting that Mayor Bowser, who commissioned the D.C. Public Works department to paint the massive BLM mural on the street leading up to the White House is trying to erase the message put forward by Cubans in America who are standing in solidarity with anti-communist protesters in their country.
She had a very different view when it was the admittedly Marxist Black Lives Matter message that was being spread.
“There are people who are craving to be heard and to be seen, and to have their humanity recognized, and we had the opportunity to send that message loud and clear on a very important street in our city,” Bowser said at the time. “And it is that message, and that message is to the American people, that Black Lives Matter black humanity matters, and we as a city raise that up as part of our values as a city.”
Mayor Bowser made sure that the BLM message was loud and clear.

This sparked more street murals in other major cities.

Including the one in front of Trump Tower in NYC. The painting party was attended by Mayor Bill de Blasio and race-hustler Al Sharpton.
This was when the “Defund the Police” movement was in full swing. Activists even added that phrase to the mural.

The message from Mayor Bowser is pretty clear — Marxist messages will not just be tolerated but encouraged and the anti-communist message will be erased as quickly as possible.
This shouldn’t be a surprise, after all, the Black Lives Matter organization loved Fidel Castro.

BLM hasn’t overtly praised Fidel’s buddy, the left’s “revolutionary hero” Ché Guevara, who was a sadistic terrorist, a racist, and an all-around awful human being, but Jay-Z who donated $1.5 million to the cause in 2016 keeping the organization afloat, has been known to wear Ché shirts.
Recently, the Black Lives Matter organization blamed the U.S. embargo for the situation in Cuba instead of the corruption and utter failure of the Communist regime there.
It would seem that leftists prefer to silence Cubans who demand freedom and praise the people that oppress them than allow freedom.
