This Dad laid it out plainly that the schools aren’t educating children, they’re indoctrinating them. “Your job is to teach them science and math. Our job is to teach them about life.”
Parents are the primary educators of their children and so many governments and public school teachers seem to forget that very basic fact.
Ian Rice, who has two children in school said that his local school board’s push for Critical Race Theory in the classrooms is causing division and not something that should have been brought into K-12 education at all.
Rice said that racial divisions aren’t anywhere near what they used to be, but the constant obsession over race is dividing students.
Rice was not playing around, either. He clearly articulated what Critical Race Theory was to stave off criticism that he doesn’t know what it is…because he clearly does.
“This board and this school district has failed,” Rice began, “CRT was never meant to be brought into grade schools, high schools — at all. It’s actually taught in the collegiate atmosphere, more importantly, the legal portion of the collegiate atmosphere to see different laws through the lens of race, from an ethical standpoint, not for grade schoolers and high schoolers.”
He continued, “The problem with bringing it to the high school and grade school level is we don’t have the educators to properly teach these kids. Instead, they’re using it for their own agenda to indoctrinate the kids to hate each other.”
“Whether you believe that to be true or not, that’s what’s happening,” said Rice.
He asserted that the effect of CRT in schools “is teaching that white people are bad. That’s not true. That would teach my daughter that her mother is evil.”
Rice then gave an account where a teacher pulled his daughter aside and told her that as a minority she should “know better than to engage in certain things” and when it was brought to the attention of the administration, nothing was done to the educator, but his daughter was brought in and ridiculed. The crowd gasps.
Rice then asked, “What is your criteria to educate the educators? and who are you to educate my children or any of our children in life issues? That’s our job. Your job is to teach them science and math. Our job is to teach them about life.”
This awesome dad then said that racial issues and tensions across the U.S. are “nowhere near what they used to be decades ago, but we still have a long way to go.”
He closed, “But I believe the people here don’t look at me as a black man, they look at me as a man standing in front of you addressing the issue we are all very passionate about.”
