International Group Of Vaccine Experts Says There’s ‘No Evidence’ For COVID Boosters For Most People

The group of scientists included officials from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) who said that introducing boosters too soon could cause problems.

A new paper published in The Lancet on Monday warned that introducing booster doses of the coronavirus vaccine too soon and too frequently could erode trust in public health. (Well, under Dr. Flip-Flop Fauci that ship has sailed, but maybe they don’t know that yet.)

The authors warned that the incidents of adverse effects such as myocarditis seen in the second dose of mRNA vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna) and Guillain-Barre syndrome in adenovirus vaccines (Johnson & Johnson) could impact vaccine acceptance “beyond COVID-19 vaccines” among the general public.

Two of the authors were Dr. Marion Gruber, head of the FDA’s Office of Vaccines Research & Review, and her deputy, Dr. Phil Krause. They are both scheduled to leave the FDA this fall — Dr. Gruber at the end of October, and Dr. Krause in November. Although there was no reason given for their sudden departure both announced at the same time, some reports are that they were frustrated that the Biden-Harris CDC was making decisions on things like COVID boosters that are actually under the purview of the FDA.

The paper was published Monday in The Lancet medical journal and was co-authored by Marion Gruber and Phil Krause, two top FDA officials in charge of regulating and approving vaccines. Both Gruber and Krause are slated to depart the FDA in the coming weeks, the agency confirmed about two weeks ago.

The Lancet paper’s authors said that available COVID-19 vaccines are able to offer strong protection against severe COVID-19 cases and symptoms. They noted that protection against symptomatic infection from the Delta variant has dropped.

But, they added that “current evidence does not … appear to show a need for boosting in the general population, in which efficacy against severe disease remains high.”

“Even if boosting were eventually shown to decrease the medium-term risk of serious disease, current vaccine supplies could save more lives if used in previously unvaccinated populations,” the authors added.

President Biden announced that he wanted to “protect the vaccinated” by offering a booster dose as early as September 20.

As usual, Joe put the cart before the horse.

There is some question about who will get them and what the dosage will look like. Moderna wants their booster to be half the dose of the original jab, and regulators need time to assess the efficacy and risks associated with a third dose.

Is there a single decision that Biden has made that has not been the wrong one?

If you think of something, put it in the comments, because I’m stumped.

Medical experts all over the world have been lambasting wealthy nations for talking about third doses of vaccines when some countries are lagging behind in vaccination rates due to limited supplies of vaccines.

In recent days, the WHO has urged wealthier nations not to embark on producing, distributing, or mandating booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus last week urged these countries, including the United States, to halt developing booster shots until the end of 2021.

“I will not stay silent when companies and countries that control the global supply of vaccines think the world’s poor should be satisfied with leftovers,” he told a news conference on Sept. 8. “Because manufacturers have prioritized or been legally obliged to fulfill bilateral deals with rich countries willing to pay top dollar, low-income countries have been deprived of the tools to protect their people.”

So, will Joe and the CDC “follow the Science” and listen to the “medical experts” or nah?

Check out Doug’s latest book, The Art of Joe: The Political Brilliance of President Biden. If you have left-leaning family members, workmates, or classmates, to buy several copies and place them in common areas. Make sure you have your video camera ready for when they pick it up and thumb through it because they will be triggered which will make for a great viral video to share across social media. Also, buy a couple for the GOP NeverTrumpers that you know. Finally, both the book’s cover and the epilogue, Notable Quotable Joe are worth the price of admission. We’ve included before and after Biden on Afghanistan. Jen Psaki will no likey this book, but you will. BTW, the book is 95% bereft of any content. Just like Biden’s head.
