Let the other big-dollar sports leagues go woke and have their fights over anthems and athletes. Hockey fans are going to enjoy great sports AND patriotic spirit.
Yes, I’m writing as an NHL partisan, and I’m not ashamed to say so. In fact, I think they might be the league most in line with our kind of patriotic spirit. No orgaization is completely free of being corrupted by woke ideology, but they’ve still got some serious signs of life.
Here’s why I think so:
Exhibit One is the fantastic way in which the NHL’s Battle of Florida kicked off at the Panthers’ rink in Sunrise Florida.
This seven-year-old girl has a set of pipes on her that just about blew the roof off the building.

Her name is Mishra Pranysqa, and she’s an amazing kid with an even more amazing story. She’s been singing out anthems since she was six, and has been on Broadway, too.
Exhibit Two is a clip from a few days ago when the LA Kings were playing in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Diehard fans of the game may enjoy the whole video, but we’ve cued it up to the part where the anthems are being played. Notice how the fans join in the singing of the anthems.
It would be one thing if Canadians joined in with singing the anthem of the HOME team. But they went further than that. These Canadians put a lot of our kiss-China’s-backside leagues to shame when they joined in the singing of the Star Spangled Banner, too!
They didn’t jump in right away, but the chorus of voices got stronger as the game got on.
Some of us still remember what sportsmanship is supposed to be about.

The anthems are great, the rivalries are even better.
