When lessons learned are coming at the cost of 21 people paying with their lives, not applying those lessons to protect others would add insult to injury.
North Carolina has watched like the rest of us did at the unfolding horror and the pathetic Keystone Cops-style response of almost 400 law enforcement who dithered and wondered while children and teachers lay dying in a nearby classroom.
They have decided to send a message to parents (and would be child-killers) that there would be no such easy pickings in North Carolina. They went right to work taking some of the excuses off the table.
What are the concerns in scenes like this one? Two in particular stand out from some of the more horrific examples: (1) We’re outgunned because the perp is armed with a rifle. (2) We can’t access the room because we’re dealing with a locked door.
Allegedly locked is more accurate.
Any loser thinking of following in the footsteps of such people will not have the infamous place in history they are craving if they happen to live in North Carolina, because there’s every reason to expect they’ll be taken down like the rabid dog they are, posthaste.
The Sheriff’s department and school district came together in a solution to prevent a repeat of what happened in the tragic scene in Uvalde.
All six schools in Madison County will be ready for that day giving police every possible advantage in that situation. Breeching tools and AR-15s will be locked and stored on hand inside the school so that officers will not have to rush back to their cars or wait for the Fire Department to get them past a barricaded door.
“We were able to put an AR-15 rifle and safe in all of our schools in the county,” Harwood said. “We’ve also got breaching tools to go into those safes. We’ve got extra magazines with ammo in those safes.”
…”The reason we put the breaching tools in the safes is that in the event we have someone barricaded in a door, we won’t have to wait on the fire department to get there,” Harwood said. “We’ll have those tools to be able to breach that door if needed. I do not want to have to run back out to the car to grab an AR, because that’s time lost. Hopefully we’ll never need it, but I want my guys to be as prepared as prepared can be.” -Madison Citizen Times
Bad guys beware. If you show up with evil intent in that county, you’ll be given the Old Yeller treatment.
