States That Embrace Evil Should Brace For Judgment

When we pray ‘God Bless America’ — do we really mean it? If yes, what do we really mean when we say it?

Are we calling on God to make America a place where His name is honored among His people, that hearts and lives across the nation be changed, that we Depopulate Hell and extend the Kingdom of Heaven?

Or do we actually want a strong economy, peaceful neighborhoods, generalized good health, and to avoid shooting wars with our international neighbors? News flash: the second we care about the blessings more than the One who Gives them, we’ve stopped living like Christians. That’s living like an idolator.

Blue states and cities have been feeling the negative sanctions of trying to make their own way apart from God’s authority. But even in the Red States, Christians haven’t exactly prioritized being salt and light to their world.

God is a Good God. He loves us enough to let false hopes fail us so that we put our hope on the ONLY peg strong enough to bear that kind of weight — Himself. If we’re seeing our hopes crash down around us maybe it’s time we reevaluate what it is we’ve hung them on.

Anyone who’s read The Book knows this wouldn’t be the first time God gave his people over to worthless leaders when they mistook their political fortunes for their eternal well-being.

We like to cite that verse about how God will ‘heal the land’ in response to Christian prayer. But have we been overlooking the step about ‘humbling ourselves’ first?
