This twice-elected politician already had a lengthy criminal history and has now been charged with distributing child pornography.
Stacie-Marie Laughton, 39, (born Barry Charles Laughton Jr.) of Derry, New Hamphsire, was arrested last Thursday by Nashua Police on multiple counts of distributing child pornography.
According to police, the images are from a disturbing sexual abuse case that occurred at a day care where Laughton’s former romantic partner, Lindsay Groves, 38, was employed.
Groves was charged on the same day as Laughton on counts of child exploitation and child pornography.
The affidavit in Groves’s case alleges that four images were sent by Groves to “Person 1” of nude boys and girls from the daycare center where she worked.
It states that Groves “allegedly used natural bathroom breaks for the children,” such as “routine diaper pull-up changes prior to naptime … to take multiple photos of the prepubescent children in a private bathroom and then sent the photos to the (former intimate partner) via text message”. The Daily Mail reports that there were allegedly 2,500 texts.

A former New Hampshire state representative with an extensive criminal history has been arrested and charged with distribution of child sexual abuse images, which the self-declared transgender former lawmaker may have received from a former romantic partner who worked with children in Tyngsboro.
Nashua Police arrested Stacie-Marie Laughton, 39, of Derry, N.H., on Thursday. That’s the day that Laughton’s former partner Lindsay Groves, 38, of Hudson, N.H., was arrested and charged in federal court in Boston with counts of child exploitation and child pornography.
Laughton waived arraignment in Hillsboro Superior Court-South in Nashua, according to New Hampshire outlet WMUR.

The former New Hampshire State Representative has resigned in disgrace twice.
Laughton was first elected to the state legislature in 2012, but resigned after a 2008 felony conviction for credit card fraud was exposed.
At the time, Laughton had said that he hoped that his election was “inspirational.”
“I believe that at this point, the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community will hopefully be inspired,” said Laughton when he was first elected. “My hope is that now maybe we’ll see more people in the community running, maybe for alderman. Maybe in the next election, we’ll have a senator.”
So much for that.
In 2021, the newly-elected Laughton was arrested for abusing the 911 system. In November of that same year, Laughton was charged with stalking and violating a court order. This caused his Democrat colleagues to demand his resignation. He eventually resigned in April 2023.
Over the years Laughton has had a number of run-ins with the law.
Here’s a quick summary:
2008 — felony conviction for credit card fraud
2015 — charged for calling a bomb threat in to the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center
2021 — charged with providing false information to 911
2022 — charged with stalking and for violating a court order that prohibited Laughton from posting on social media about a specific person
2023 — charged for distributing child pornography
Laughton has consistently insisted that he is not responsible for his actions.
After the stalking charge, Laughton blamed his poor mental health for his criminal activity.
“I have had a mental illness my whole life, and I guess this was my worst break with it. I was untreated for a long time, and I didn’t have medication,” Laughton said in an interview. “I wasn’t trying to hurt anyone, and it was totally out of character for me. I have put a lot behind me, and I never thought I would do this in a million years.”
If that’s the excuse he’s using after being charged with stalking, what will the lame excuse be for sharing photos of children being sexually abused?
