The Pentagon has no end of new money for Ukraine — but grieving family has to pass a hat to bring back Sgt Nicole Gee’s remains.
Less than a day ago, news outlets were reporting the latest tranche of money being sent by Joe Biden to Ukraine. It was no small amount:
The Biden administration approved $400 million in additional military help for Ukraine Tuesday, marking the 43rd time the US has sent weapons from its own stocks to the war-torn country.
The latest package will include more air defense munitions, artillery, Javelins and other anti-armor weapons, 32 Stryker armored vehicles “and other equipment to help Ukraine counter Russia’s ongoing war of aggression,” the White House said in a statement. — NY Post
You will note the phrase ’43rd time he has sent weapons’.
It sure looks like Biden’s Pentagon has a greater commitment to a conflict on foreign soil in which we have no formal declaration of war than they do in bringing home the remains of our own soldiers who paid that ultimate price… a needless death that came as a direct result of horrific decisions made by Joe Biden.
When her death was made public, Sgt. Gee was remembered in CNN this way:
Friends and family of Nicole L. Gee say the 23-year-old Marine killed at the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, last week died doing what she loved – helping people.
Gee was one of 13 US service members killed in a terrorist attack outside Hamid Karzai International Airport on Thursday that left more than 170 other people dead. At least 20 US Marines were among the hundreds of people wounded.
Just six days earlier, Gee had posted a photo on Instagram, which was also posted on the Department of Defense’s social media pages, showing her holding an Afghan infant. Gee captioned the photo, “I love my job.”
The Marine Corps sergeant from Sacramento, California, posted another photo from the airport that week showing her in front of a plane beside a long line of people, captioned, “Escorting evacuees onto the bird.” — CNN
The rest of us just took for granted that all thirteen of those who fell that day would be among the draped caskets we saw in that shameful footage with Joe Biden looking at his watch, and the cost of that final flight home would be covered by Uncle Sam: President Biden CHECKS HIS WATCH During Dignified Transfer Of Troops Killed In Kabul Attack (VIDEO)
According to Mills’ office, the option for the Defense Department to decline to pay for transport of the body was made possible by an amendment to last year’s National Defense Authorization Act, which states that the secretary of Defense may provide a fallen service member’s next of kin “a commercial air travel use waiver for the transportation of deceased remains of [a] military member who dies inside a theater of combat operations.”
Gee’s remains were initially flown to her hometown of Roseville, California, for a ceremony, but the responsibility for transporting Gee to her final resting place at Arlington National Cemetery would fall on the family. Honoring Our Fallen, a nonprofit dedicated to assisting the families of fallen American service members, stepped up to help the family move Gee via private jet to Virginia.
But Mills says the responsibility should fall on the Defense Department and not burden the families of fallen heroes.
“Typically, our fallen heroes are flown back home for a solemn service and then laid to a final rest at Arlington Cemetery with the utmost respect and honor,” Mills said. “It is an egregious injustice that grieving families were burdened to shoulder the financial strain of honoring their loved ones. This is an unacceptable situation that demands immediate rectification.” —FoxNews
Maybe they could have diverted some of the funding for a drag show or two to bring home someone who literally paid for Biden’s bungling with her life.
Does Biden’s military no longer hold to the old motto of ‘No Marine Left Behind’?
Is that attitude and loyalty to fallen comrades yet another casualty of Joe Biden’s makeover of Uncle Sam?
