Biden’s position on Iran is almost the opposite of what Trump’s was. POTUS45 had a ‘maximum pressure campaign’ designed to put the squeeze on Iran so that they simply would not have much money available to fund their various proxy terror groups.
His successor flipped that on its head, picking up where the Obama team had left off in kissing Iran’s backside.

And that’s not even going into the John Kerry treachery or the time Obama-era rules of engagement set up a situation where Iran’s Navy had a humiliating photo op with our guys captured by theirs, the fatwa against Rushdie, or the $1M bounty Iran put out for the murder of Bolton and Pompeo. Nor does it reference them being caught with illicit Uranium, seizing journalists, or turning pirate in the Strait of Hormuz.
It was very ‘on-brand’ for Team Biden to pick the anniversary of 9/11 (of all days!) to announce they would be making a prisoner exchange with Iran… one that would pour billions of dollars into Iran’s treasury, which is almost certain to fund terror acts that will further destabilize parts of the Middle East.

The Biden administration has cleared the way for the release of five American citizens detained in Iran by issuing a blanket waiver for international banks to transfer $6 billion in frozen Iranian money from South Korea to Qatar without fear of U.S. sanctions. In addition, as part of the deal, the administration has agreed to release five Iranian citizens held in the United States.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken signed off on the sanctions waivers late last week, a month after U.S. and Iranian officials said an agreement in principle was in place. Congress was not informed of the waiver decision until Monday, according to the notification, which was obtained by The Associated Press.
The outlines of the deal had been previously announced and the waiver was expected. But the notification marked the first time the administration said it was releasing five Iranian prisoners as part of the deal. The prisoners have not been named. — AP

The five sought by the Iranians are:
— Kaveh Lotfolah Afrasiabi, an Iranian charged in 2021 with allegedly failing to register as a foreign agent on Iran’s behalf while lobbying U.S. officials on issues like nuclear policy;
— Mehrdad Ansari, an Iranian sentenced to 63 months in prison in 2021 for obtaining equipment that could be used in missiles, electronic warfare, nuclear weapons and other military gear;
— Amin Hasanzadeh, an Iranian and permanent resident of the United States whom prosecutors charged in 2019 with allegedly stealing engineering plans from his employer to send to Iran;
— Reza Sarhangpour Kafrani, an Iranian charged in 2021 over allegedly unlawfully exporting laboratory equipment to Iran; and
— Kambiz Attar Kashani, an Iranian-American sentenced in February to 30 months in prison for purchasing “sophisticated, top-tier U.S. electronic equipment and software” through front companies in the United Arab Emirates. — MSN
Note this list consists of people who have posed genuine risks to national security while cooperating with a country that has annual celebrations in which ‘Death To America’ is chanted.
The people we are getting in return are NOT smuggling engineering plans.
Sadly, we can’t even blame this deal on Biden’s cognitive situation, so much as on the incompetents Joe has surrounded himself with.
This deal was signed by Blinken. You know, Blinken — the same tool that was made to look like an absolute fool in that Alaska meeting, almost as soon as he began the job.
