God’s word leaves the ugliness and the failures of the all the special people in scripture right there for all the world to see. Not even their kings and priests got a pass on their failures.
Today, we’re looking at a High Priest, direct descendant of Aaron who didn’t just ‘drop the ball’ or ‘mess up’.
God dropped a curse on his head… and his family’s.
Eli became high priest of Israel during that period of chaos after Joshua’s initial conquest of Canaan, but before Saul and David became king.
Hunter Biden on his worst day had nothing on the degeneracy of these clowns.
Eli’s boys didn’t care that they were descended from Aaron himself, heirs to the privileges and responsibilities of being consecrated as holy. They would rather be off partying (and making bank) with Hunter and his shady buddies. ‘The Ministry’ was a place to pick up chicks and skim a little off the top whenever they saw something they wanted.
Dad failed to reign them in.
God took that failure VERY personally.
It cost Eli… in a BIG way.
