THEN VS NOW: SNL Went From Mocking University Indoctrination… To Cheering It (VIDEO)

Trump broke them. The difference between their content in 2015 and 2023 is staggaring

Those of us old enough to remember when the show was funny, did you ever dream their GOP hatred would get so bad that SNL would endorse a position that would put them in agreement with the Klan?

It wasn’t even a close call. Rep Stephanik shone a spotlight on the Presidents of Harvard, MIT and Penn, asking them to state for the record that calling for Jewish genocide violates their policies governing student conduct.

None of the three Presidents were willing — or, indeed, able — to categorically call for the murder of Jews. Even narrowing the question down to more specific examples of genocide like the ‘Intifada’ — which is the terrorist violence Hamas perpetrated on Israel, often in the form of suicide bombers destroying busses and pizza places.

Since that aired, of those three Presidents is out of a job. The Harvard President is also facing allegations of plagiarism in writing her own dissertation. The jury is still out on the other two. Even CNN’s Fareed Zachariah is calling BS on the answers those Presidents gave… and the the root cause of a hyper-politicized education system.

How do we know this tactic of hiding behind ‘free speech’ is a lie? We can look to Harvard’s own example.

With that hearing being the hot news of the day, SNL had a decision to make.

1) They could ignore the story and go with something else.
2) They could tell the truth even if it means lampooning someone on their own side, politically
3) They could put party before principle and close ranks around the embattled Harvard President.

In the skit they decided to run, Rep Stefanik was depicted as a screaming nutcase… the Ivy League? Well, see for yourself.

In a twist of irony, Penn was called out by name in an Israel War Room tweet. The funny thing about it was that the video in that tweet came from an SNL skit, circa 2015.

You know… before Trump broke them.

See if you can pick up on the subtle difference in what they thought was funny back then.

The skit picks up on the ‘dad-dropping-his-daughter-off-at-school’ trope, and then throws in a twist whose parody (in light of these hearings) is almost a little bit TOO on-the-nose.

But back then, they could still be funny once in a while.
