ICYMI: SNL Took Swing At Trump — Punched Itself In The Face Instead
They tried to laugh at Trump soon discovered that THEY were the joke
SNL continues trying to be funny by mocking former President Trump. In this bit, the SNL host acknowledges he doesn't know what "debank" is and accuses Trump of making up the term to uproarious audience laughter. They're clueless. Our younger readers might find it hard to believe that late night TV comedy was funny once. Saturday Night Live, in particular was once the home to epic comedy.
But now their politics have them tied up in so many knots, they wouldn’t recognize a joke if it slapped them across the face with a trout.
So what do they do? They go for the cheap laugh that all of their buddies in the narrow little world would find funny. Make fun of the yokels, rednecks, the working class and MAGA voters. But most of all… mock Trump. That schtick NEVER gets old! Hyuk!
Gee, maybe that kind of thinking explains why Gutfield is leaving all of late night in his dust. He’ll make fun of anything and anyone. Most of all… himself.
We’re a little late to this story (as the In Case You Missed It in the headline would indicate) because — let’s be honest — nobody cares enough to watch Saturday Night Live anymore. The most offensive part of their humor is just about the worst thing you can say about comedy: it’s boring and painfully predictable.
The only way we know it’s when SNL gone off the the rails (even by their low standars) is when some poor stalwart who’s watched the show puts up a clip and makes fun of it. It’s pretty good odds that the social media mockery has more views than the show itself.
This time around, some low-effort writer from their team watched a Trump speech and heard Trump say a word they had never encountered before. Because THEY come from the educated elite and HE represents the mouth-breathing troglodyte class they loathe so much, the writer didn’t bother to look up this word. He just built a bit around it.
The video is at the top of the page. It’s built around Trump talking about ‘debanking’.

If you’re a comfortable leftist who has never condescended to associate with the hoi polloi, you might never have seen that word before. Because you’ve never been knocked around with the heavy end of that particular pool cue.
You’ve never had a website shut down because advertisers have been chased away by leftist authoritarians, or had Paypal cut off your online store because you carried merch that celebrates the Founders, the Framers and the rule of law. (Ask us how we know!)
You’ve never read stories about Nigel Farage having his bank account closed over his politics — or businesses cut off for espousing Christian or Conservative views that offend angry activists. You’ve never stopped to consider the tyrannical implications of Trudeau shutting down the bank accounts of working-class protesters exercising their Charter rights to petition the government, or why banks volunteering private information about financial transactions to the federal government without that citizen’s knowledge might be a bad idea.
You would have cheered when a sitting President got the ‘Alex Jones’ treatment by a coordinated attack from politically aligned corporations removing not only his voice, but his ability to buy, sell, or raise money when they didn’t want him to.
Instead, you make an ignorant joke suggesting Trump is a moron who’s gone a bit senile and is making up nonsense words… he might need to take ‘dee ambulance’ to see ‘dee doctor’. *snortlaugh* Aren’t we so edgy?
Is it any wonder so many of us think you clowns are *ahem* ‘dee bags’?
