WATCH: Journalists Covering Trump’s Trial Joke About JFK & Assassination

Do you buy the excuse that they were 'just' talking about ideal angles to take a photo?

Rule #1 in any media environment is the assumption that the microphone is always ‘hot’. These journalists forgot that rule… and became the story.

The scene was Trump’s arrival at the courthouse to discuss certain questions with respect to Presidential Immunity. Trump pulled up in a car, and the unnamed journos (photographers?) working that beat were having an unguarded conversation within range of a microphone.

Collin Rugg details the conversation this way:

NEW: Reporters caught on hot mic appearing to joke about an assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

The reporters were gathering to get a shot of Trump as he was set to appear at the federal courthouse for his criminal immunity appeal.

Reporter 1: “You know what the worst part is? Even if he has his window open and he’s hanging out of it he will be on the other side of the street.”

Reporter 2: “If he’s driving, we’ve got a good shot.”

Reporter 1: “Yeah, if he’s driving with the front window open?”

Reporter 2: “Yeah, or if it’s a convertible?”

Reporter 1: “Yeah. I wasn’t thinking about that.”

Reporter 2: “Yeah. Like if he just pulls up…”

Reporter 1: “Like JFK?”

Reporter 1: “Maybe someone, just like they told JFK. You know what you should do? You should take a convertible! It’s so nice out!”

This is happening on the VERY SAME day that social media was spun up in a rage assuming that Trump would actually call on Seal Team Six to murder a political rival. (Which of course, is not what either he or his lawyer actually said… in response to a direct hypothetical proposed not by his side by the overseeing judge.)

Why don’t we trust them? This is why.

And if that wasn’t reason enough… how about the fact that Team Biden meets with them to ‘evaluate’ their job performance and give them tips on how to better serve him… that is… ‘report’ on key events pertaining to both his administration and opponents.
