Biden Vs. DeSantis: The Left Has Been Lying To You About The REAL ‘Book Banners’

It has become fashionable for the left to frame themselves as the defenders of ‘free speech’ and Republicans as the banners of books.

That’s because of people on the right who have decided that the notion of NOT permitting little kids to buy porno mags is probably also good guidance for public school libraries — especially when younger readers can get their hands on them.

Fifty Shades of Grey, for example, might be content that an adult reader could make an informed decision about reading or not reading — but it might not be content we would want a fifth-grader to have access to.

Somewhere along the line, activists on the left have decided that such a position about age appropriate content is now ‘extreme’ and ‘censorious’.

The same people who were trying to remove books from schools or libraries that offended their ‘woke’ sensablilites (including books like ‘The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn‘, ‘To Kill A Mockingbird‘, and even cancelled Dr. Seuss) are suddenly reimagining themselves as the champions of free speech because they want little kids to read illustrated stories featuring masturbation and anal sex.

Maybe you think we’re exaggerating that last point.

We are not.

In New Jersey, Dems are pushing legislation that will shield school teachers and librarians from child obscenity laws.

The same champions of free speech have been busy strong-arming Amazon (the world’s largest book sales platform… and nearing monopoly status) to push a very DIFFERENT kind of agenda:

The government censoring books is an ACTUAL violation of the First Amendment.

It is — and always has been — unlawful for the government to incentivize a third party to enact policies restricting speech that the government itself is forbidden to enact on its own.

Who’s gonna tell them that THEY are the enemies of free speech they have warned others about?
