SLACKTIVISM : Dudes Walk Around In Pumps To ‘Help’ Violence Against Women… Somehow

Someone connect the dots for us on this one ... what is that supposed to ACCOMPLISH?

Back in the day, someone like Terry Fox would catch the world’s attention with a cross-country run to raise money for a cause, leading to millions of people raising hundreds of millions for research in his memory.

Now, everyone wants to have credit for being an ‘activist’ but hardly anyone (other than the burn-it-all-down types) wants to put in any effort.

If someone REALLY signal their commitment, they might put up a black square on Insta, or a blue-and-yellow flag on their social media bio. (Or have those been exchanged for Palestinian ones? It’s hard to keep up.)

Some bright spark decided to set up an event in the name of violence against women.

Ok, great. Most decent people would like to see less violence against women. So, what’s the event?

Ok here’s the plan: Guys will wear red pumps.

Um… If you have to buy a prop just to walk, what’s the point?

If they are raising money, isn’t the cost of those shoes diverting money that could have been used to build women’s shelters or give other direct help? Is someone going to wear all of those used-only-once red shoes?

Other than looking like idiots, what is the point of men walking in pumps?

Pretty much.

Apparently this has been going on since 2001.

Go figure.
