Trump Team Takes Chainsaw To RNC Bloat… Charts New Course

Changes were needed. Changes have been made.

Politico called it a ‘bloodbath’, and with Trump-endorsed co-chairs including Lara Trump, critics spoke in ominous tones about it being ‘captured’ by Trump and the MAGA team.

That attitude conveniently overlooks the fact that Presidential nominees from both parties have a long history of replacing old leadership with ones of their own choosing so that the party and the campaign are in alignment.

The August Ronald Regan had his own daughter.

Trump endorsed them and they won the vote. Done and dusted.

And what about the ‘bloodbath’?

Whatley is replacing Ronna McDaniel, who stepped down last week after serving more than seven years in the post. Trump and McDaniel had been longtime allies, but the former president had soured on the chairperson as of late because he felt that she was not doing enough on “voter integrity”-related issues, and because she hosted Republican primary debates that he refused to participate in.
Trump advisers have described the RNC’s structure as overly bloated and bureaucratic, which they believe has contributed to the party’s cash woes. The RNC had about $8 million at the end of December, only about one-third as much as the Democratic National Committee.

Some 60 or so people are getting pink slips — as well as vendors. We can only assume that includes florists and limos:

Lara took to Hannity to describe the new direction. It included a new emphasis on election integrity:

“Now we have the first-ever election integrity division at the RNC,” she said. “That means massive resources going to this one thing. If people out there, Sean don’t feel like that their vote counts, they don’t trust the system that we have, then we are no longer the country we once thought we were. We will have trained poll watchers, poll observers, poll workers, people in tabulation centers all across this country.”

The RNC wasted no time in getting started on the new priorities.

The Republican National Committee sued Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat, on Wednesday in an attempt to force election officials to trim down the state’s voter rolls.

The lawsuit, which was filed in federal court, argues that Michigan is violating the National Voter Registration Act’s requirement to maintain clean and accurate vote registration rolls.

The move comes just days after Trump allies effectively took over the RNC’s leadership ahead of the 2024 election.

“At least 53 Michigan counties have more active registered voters than they have adult citizens who are over the age of 18. That number of voters is impossibly high,” the lawsuit said. “An additional 23 counties have active-voter registration rates that exceed 90 percent of adult citizens over the age of 18. That figure far eclipses the national and statewide voter registration rate in recent elections.” — NBC

Looking back at that tweet with both budgets, if you compare the RNC and the DNC, we get an inkling of why the GOP underperformed so badly in the 2022 midterms. Sure, the left had billionaires pouring money into races — including mountains of money stolen from investors by a certain crypto investing convict — but the budgets show it was more than that.

DNC budgets depict an organization on a war footing that cut the fat to bare bones and dumped all of their resources into getting results.

The RNC, by contast, dumped cash into office supplies, consultants, limos and florists, while neglecting GOTV and voter files.

Don’t think for a minute Trump will tolerate anything less than ruthless efficiency and a commitment to winning. There’s too much at stake to be d***ing around on this.

Sixty pink slips with the axing of 5 execs with a record like that?
Sounds like a good start.
