Lepers, Perfume, Daft Disciples & Religious Devils

This was the second-last recorded dinner with Christ before his crucifixion

If you knew you had a fixed date with an executioner’s ax, how would you spend your final days? Who would you spend your time with? Here’s who Jesus chose to eat with as he was running out of days on the calendar before he faced the lash and worse.

For one thing, it was in the home of Simon the Leper. That’s not the man’s unfortunate last name. The only way to get called ‘the leper’ is to have had a contagious disease that gets you drummed out of polite society.

And yet, in this passage, this cat didn’t just have a home, he had a home big enough that he could invite Jesus and his crew over for a meal… with room to spare.

As gracious as Simon was to host them during pasover, it was Mary who did something so significant that Jesus specifically told his disciples to include it in future tellings of the gospel.

That significant act of devotion was when she cracked open her VERY valuable alabaster jar of perfume, annointing the Lord for his burial.

It’s a credit to the truthfulness of scripture that Mark included the disciples’s reaction because they wiffed this one… badly.

This short, tight passage is packed with lessons and takeaways useful to the modern reader. Let’s get started.

I Talk Back to the Devil is an action manual that sports thirty pure fire proclamations against the powers of darkness in three different categories covering, the wealth, the walk and the warfare of the Christian against Satan and his defeated ilk.

This NEW book will put a serrated edge on the Christian’s prayer life in these troubled times. This slim tome will embolden the believer to stop taking Satan’s crap.
