DACA: Dem Immigration Policy Was Lawless THEN, And It’s MUCH Worse Under Biden
Even Dems knew they lacked the authority... until they became too brazen to care

June 15, 2012. That was the day Obama did with a ‘pen and a phone’ what he himself had admitted was outside the scope of his legitimate powers.
But he did it anyway because when you’ve got an agenda, it’s easier to ask forgiveness than permission. Or, to paraphrase Harry Reid when he was called out on the lie he told about Romney cheating on his taxes, ‘it worked, didn’t it’?
Here are a few times that Obama admitted he did NOT have the power to make unilateral changes to immigration law or (importantly) the enforcement thereof.
In the end, Obama decided that lacking the authority to do so shouldn’t stop him from pushing ahead anyway. It was a catch-me-if-you-can policy.
When Trump used HIS Executive Order to reverse Obama’s Executive order Democrats took it to court and pushed back on a process technicality.
States fought it in court, and found that Obama HAD, in fact, acted lawlessly, forbidding new additions to the program, but the courts could offer no legal remedy for Obama’s intentional violation of the law. Even the left-leaning NPR had to admit as much last September:
While a federal judge on Wednesday declared illegal a revised version of a federal policy that prevents the deportation of hundreds of thousands of immigrants brought to the U.S. as children, he declined to order an immediate end to the program and the protections it offers to recipients.
U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen agreed with Texas and eight other states suing to stop the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program. The judge’s ruling was ultimately expected to be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, sending the program’s fate before the high court for a third time. — NPR
Emboldened by acting in defiance of SCOTUS on both the Eviction Moritorium AND their ruling against his Student Loan ‘forgiveness’, he is playing the role of king in completely bypassing Congressional authority.
After years of deliberately erasing any sense of sovereignty at the national border, Biden has announced he has started creating amnesty pathways and a ‘pathway to citizenship’ that have no basis in law.
The Biden administration announced on Tuesday sweeping executive action to provide legal protections to tens of thousands of illegal immigrants who are married to U.S. citizens.
The order, touted by the White House as an effort to “keep families together,” protects the spouses of American citizens from deportation and provides them with work permits if they have lived in the country for at least a decade.
An estimated 1.1 million illegal immigrants are married to U.S. citizens and Biden’s new program, referred to as “parole in place,” could benefit nearly 500,000 people. Under the program, eligible individuals will have three years to apply for permanent citizenship.
“President Biden believes that securing the border is essential,” the White House said in a statement. “He also believes in expanding lawful pathways and keeping families together, and that immigrants who have been in the United States for decades, paying taxes and contributing to their communities, are part of the social fabric of our country.”
Biden is expected to celebrate the executive action at a White House event celebrating the 12-year anniversary of former president Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which shields illegal-immigrant children from deportation. — NationalReview
Not only is he celebrating DACA, but he’s pushing it further.
For anyone who wants to give Democrats the benefit of the doubt by suggesting this is motivated by ‘compassion’ for immigrants… don’t take OUR word for it.
They’ve damned their motives with their own words in what was supposed to be an internal memo by one-time Hillary team member Jennifer Palmieri in January 2018, when Trump was busy trying to pass legislation that would finish the wall, and even offering limited amnesty as a bargaining chip to Schumer/Pelosi:
The Center for American Progress (CAP) Action Fund memo, which circulated Monday, called on Democrats to “refuse to offer any votes for Republican spending bills that do not offer a fix for Dreamers and instead appropriate funds to deport them.”
The memo from the left-leaning think tank also said that protecting DACA is not only a “moral imperative” but also a “critical component” in winning elections.
“The fight to protect Dreamers is not only a moral imperative, it is also a critical component of the Democratic Party’s future electoral success,” the memo read.
It finished, “If Democrats don’t try to do everything in their power to defend Dreamers, that will jeopardize Democrats’ electoral chances in 2018 and beyond.” — FoxNews, January 2018
We took the liberty of highlighting a few of the more… informative… words from that story, to draw them to our readers’ attention. Sure would be a shame if evidence of their REAL motives for wanting open borders were to become part of the national conversation, now wouldn’t it?
