Christ Bore Our Curse
Have you stopped to think what we REALLY mean by He paid the price for our sin?
There was something bigger than the pain and the humiliation that made Jesus sweat blood when he saw The Day approaching… and he took our place anyway.
It’s so easy to say ‘Jesus paid it all’, that the smallest Sunday School kid can give the right theological answer about why a Christian can be confident he will not be forever damned for his sins and rebellion against a perfectly Holy God.
That confidence comes from what Jesus did in our place.
It’s easy to think that the scourging, the nails, the public humiliation, and his final breath were the Main Thing.
If that was ALL Jesus did, he would have been a victim of a horrible crime and we’d still be lost in our sins. For that cross to benefit anyway one of us, he had to do something more.
He had to take the most sick and shameful things humanity has ever done in our collective rebellion against a Holy God upon himself… and stand as though a guilty man before God the Father.
